For nearly 12 years while heading the Freeplay Foundation, I have led the development of products and technology to benefit women and children which is end-user and market driven. I believe that I am approaching energy poverty though a different lens that conventional researchers or development practitioners.
There are dozens of such places, but one where I have seen tremendous change, no rather transformation is Rwanda. I began working there in 1999 when the country was still pulling itself up from the horrors of the '94 genocide. It it almost unbelievable to witness the ongoing and continual
transformation of its people who want to be in the driver's seat for their own upliftment. There is strong leadership at the top and people across all walks of life talk about their hopes and dreams for the future - much more than they talk of the past.
