Marzena Zukowska currently leads and manages the media strategy for Ashoka Changemakers, bringing together her interests for storytelling and the digital world.
Her background as an undocumented polish immigrant has resulted in a deeply rooted passion for social justice. She is passionate about creating opportunities for immigrant communities and striving for the equality and human rights of undocumented populations.
Marzena currently lives at the Lamont Street Collective, one of DC's oldest intentional communities, devoted to supporting art, activism, and social justice in Mount Pleasant and beyond. Alongside her housemates, she is fighting to preserve the historical legacy of the Lamont Street Collective and keep it a permanent space for free expression in the District.
She has collaborated with organizations such as girltank, Agora Partnerships, and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. Before coming to Ashoka, Marzena was a physics and foreign policy double-major at Georgetown University, working to break down the confines of the foreign service curriculum.
In her bits of spare time, Marzena writes, paints, and uses her Nikon 5100 to film and photograph the creative banality of everyday life and the extraordinary moments of human imagination.
