Born number 6 in a family of 8 in Bulambuli district in Uganda, Nathan holds a diploma in education from the institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo University (Uganda), a BA in social sciences (Psychology) from Makerere University (Uganda), a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University (UK); and is pursuing a PhD in criminology at Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany. He worked in Uganda as a teacher and tutor in secondary and technical schools; was elected a political representative to the local government council in 2001; was a consultant for the Norwegian refugee council in northern Uganda 2007 – 2008 ; and was a programs coordinator for a regional anti-corruption coalition in Uganda 2008-2009 before embarking on the PhD program.
