We landed a cover story in our local paper that reaches 500,000+ residents. The article raised our credibility on the approach of intellectual properties as a potential market for Hawaii. We are making small changes (our first production is in stores worldwide and has sold roughly 300 copies) that will hopefully lead to bigger changes (a new industry for Hawaii).
As parents of a special needs child, we are most fond of or connected to children having to deal with both physical or mental challenges.
To see Hawaii support a market similar to Japan's support of manga (basically, Hawaii-made comics sold everywhere in Hawaii, from newsstands to noodle shops, fueling jobs around the world).
My husband is community-oriented and I am a producer of intellectual properties. He is a fire captain that performs charitable work whenever possible. I've written and illustrated titles for clients (such as the American Heart Association). I've also been paid to critique scripts and graphics for well-established publishers such as McGraw-Hill.
