Noella Steinhauer, is Plains Cree from the Saddle Lake First Nation in northeastern Alberta. She has been the VP of Education at the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation since March 2008. Her background has been primarily in secondary education; she has more than 15 years of teaching experience at secondary and post secondary levels. Noella has also been a school principal; a senior manager in the provincial government and the Director of the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program at the university of Alberta. In 2007, she completed and defended her PhD dissertation; Natawahtaw – Looking for a Cree Model of Education. Noella is passionate about honoring Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing. She is committed improving and enhancing the educational future of Aboriginal students.
