Reem Rahman is a knowledge and project manager for Ashoka's Changemakers team, dedicated to finding open-source, innovative solutions to entrenched problems worldwide. Prior to joining Ashoka, Reem directed communications and public relations for a civil rights group in Chicago. In 2010, Reem was one of the Managing Directors for the innovative Rethinking Islamic Reform initiative, which has reached over 80,000 viewers and participants to date. Reem remains consistently engaged with community organizations and grass-roots efforts related to youth empowerment, interfaith cooperation, and conflict resolution. She has a passion for spreading knowledge and open-source tools, recently creating guides to social innovation such as the interactive Citizen Media Toolkit (see: changemakers.com/citizenmedia/tooklit). Reem graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's in Cognitive Neuroscience and received a Master's in Management Research from the University of Oxford focusing on strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Reem resides in Washington, D.C., US.
