Rusty has had a somewhat unorthodox career path to online media, but has experience in both the non-profit and for-profit realms. He graduated from Skidmore College with a BS in Elementary Education and put it to good work for the 3 yrs in Washington DC and London, England as an urban public school teacher. After returning from abroad in 2004, Rusty started up with a small media company in Boston called Y2M, whose clients included a group of Harvard students that were starting a social network called Facebook. From there, Rusty helped build College Media Network which now supports a network of over 600 college newspaper websites. When the business was acquired by mtvU, the college channel for MTV Networks, Rusty moved to web consulting for the City of Somerville, Ma, but eventually found his way back to MTV.
