I have been working in the social service field and with youth since 1987. I graduated from UVIC in 1992 with a degree in Social Work, and in 2007 with a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Registered Rehabilitation Professional.
I have worked with street youth, youth wilderness programs, gay and lesbian youth, and other at risk populations that propelled me to look at alternatives to the dominant approaches to youth intervention.
Prevention work with pre-teen girls and boys took form as I sought alternatives to problem focused counselling and support. I have combined my professional and creative skills to develop Girl Power and 2 BBoys over the last several years.
I work privately in substance addiction counselling, rehabilitation consulting and facilitating Girl Power groups and Girl Power and 2BBoys facilitator training. I also worked with men in correctional setting providing relationship violence prevention.
I loves the outdoor and nourish my creative spirit through art - collage, writing, and fabric work.
