Yes I am. I work for a NGO that looks after children.
In India we have many place where people are still struggling for their daily living. Especially at Tughlakabad Village, where there is no proper electricity, children are having bad hygiene, there is an open drainage flowing next to the Village Road.
I would like to make them educate regarding our society and our culture. Not only this but to make them aware of the situation they are going through and encourage them to fight against them. I am also planning to have a school for both children and adult so that each and every generation of this village. I have already started writing the proposal for the same.
For the past 8 years I have been working for 2 NGOs that had a strong concern for the upliftment of the needy people of the respective Centers. Through these NGOs I saw many people starving for their basic daily needs in the so called metropolitan cities of our country. I have come to learn that it is possible to alleviate the problems of or society through well designed and meaningfully focused educational programs.
The challenge to the creation and operation of these programs, however, is twofold. First, there are no teaching materials to assist the children in understanding how to improve themselves and their respective families. And second, there is no any group of trained facilitators to assist in delivering this information in a timely and meaningful manner.
Research suggests that the most powerful way to affect the education of a child is through the improved understanding of their parents. This project will focus on the development of teaching materials and a system for helping the children learn more moral values of the society so that they could help in the development of their society. And, it will occur in a local community location, close to where these children are living.
Further, the Project will build upon the very successful Educational program as a way to involve university student volunteers in the offering of services to the children. In addition, to using these volunteers as a viable form of manpower for the offering of service, the Project will work to help these volunteers learn meaningful educational information and also the techniques for effective teaching this information to adults - a knowledge base that is certain to help them in their future endeavors.
