I am a former Zimbabwean now resident in Cape Town. I regard myself as a social entrepreneur. The patented pre-fabricated cavity wall system really works. See www.readykit.co.za. It has been approved inter alia by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe ( 29/09/2006). That system is being utilised in the creation of eco settlements that comprise dwellings that use green building technology, thermal friendly design, that are independent of external services. In Murraysburg in the Karoo for instance, the land has a well and is fed by leiwater. Each house will have its own filtered rainwater tank. Finally in really drought conditions drinking water from the air is produced from solar powered de-humidifiers. Grey water reuse. Photo electric amorphous silicate panels power led lighting, fridge, microwave, PC, and TV. Hay box from Women of Africa helps the cooking process. Ozone sewage disposal. Glass tube solar water heating. Owners are encouraged to use only permaculture and co-operate where possible to market the produce.

Our aim is to move RSA into a new direction - not easy and it will take time. But Eskom plus fuel costs have now given us the needed impetus towards public awareness for the need to change.

I was an electoral officer in Gutu in 1980 and would welcome the opportunity to revisit. Readykit is represented in Harare and we are presently quoting to erect 200 houses for Zimplats in Ngezi.
Outcome of your election awaited with interest!

We wish you well
