What is your idea? What makes it innovative? Why is it important?
Blitz Bazaar is a web platform designed to irreversibly transform the way people mass-organize and drive social change, making it easier than ever before. We consider ourselves part of a broader civic participation movement that is democratizing power and rapidly gaining momentum on the back of new web-based technology.
Will you launch your idea as a business or non-profit?

United States
What will be the impact of your idea?
What is the impact of the civil rights movement? A woman's empowerment group? A youth initiative to clean up their neighborhood? Or countless other more personal micro-campaigns e.g. people coming together to procure type-O blood for a dying crash victim?
1. Blitz Bazaar will democratize power: dramatically lowering the cost of entry to campaigning gives everybody unprecedented access to the tools they need to run effective campaigns.
2. Blitz Bazaar will dramatically help speed up the pace of “macro”-movement formation by making it easier for “micro”-movements to discover each other and unify around a shared goal.
3. Blitz Bazaar will usher in a period during which citizen participation stops being primarily passive (donations, membership and voting) and becomes active – about co-leading change.
Blitz Bazaar has the potential to increase civic participation throughout the world by an order of magnitude.
Within the greater goal of everybody a changemaker, Blitz Bazaar aims to galvanize 1 million changemakers by 2012 to be registered on Blitz Bazaar and actively changing their worlds.
Who will help you develop your idea? Why are you the one to make this happen?

How much will it cost to launch your idea? (This can be an estimate)
Our business plan estimates an operating budget in the first year of approx. $700K would be required primarily for salary, rent and administrative fees related to the set-up of our online payments back-end. Over the last year, the founder has already absorbed significant costs to develop the platform.significant founder capital has funded the development and release of Blitz Bazaar version alpha and beta have subsequently been released. The latter was recently deployed at Stanford University, powering the campus-wide Social-M Challenge. As a result of this Eco-Challenge, the first of its kind in the world, Blitz Bazaar is gaining user-traction with over 500 Stanford users on the site one week less than a week after launch.
Our business plan estimates an operating budget in the first year of approx. $700K primarily for salary, rent and administrative fees related to the set-up of our online payments back-end. We intend to bootstrap the company to the fullest extent, using outside financing to accelerate our growth.
Our fundraising efforts would be significantly enhanced with the recognition of having won the We Media Competition.
