What will be the impact of your idea?
Children after exams sell off their books as waste after the exams. At the other end of the spectrum there are children who can't afford books. We collect the books from the advantaged children and put them in a library. We use the media (in this case Lokmat and Navabaharat and Dainik Bhaskar newspapers) to reach out to these children and their parents. A letter to us by the principal of the school or village elder is all that is required.We courier the books immediately.The books are used for a year and then returned for issue to another needy child.
In India, there are many dropouts due to lack of resources. Some states supply free books upto class 10 but not after that. The idea is simple and the crux lies in creating awareness through the media.In the first year we have reached out to 3000 children.We have been nominated for the Marico Innovation Award as one of the best social innovation of India.
