Aside from financial sustainability, how do you plan to grow the initiative or expand your intended impact?
Initiative began in 2006 \ 2007, with 200 girls to play volleyball, in 2008 we worked for the first time with 400 girls women's soccer in 20 government primary schools.
We are now planning to work with 1,000 girls in various games (soccer –volleyball ...etc ) so we'll apply for more than one funding agencies for the continuity and allocating deposit for each school to spend its revenue on sports activities for girls to continuing to engage in sports.
This Entry is about (Issues)
Sustainability
How is your initiative financed (or how do you expect your initiative will be financed)?
Grant offered by Ashoka Arab world Foundation and Nike Company together with voluntary efforts of Tanweer staff and some supporters for the idea (doctors 0 governors - university professors - ..etc)
Financing source
Annual budget
34350 $
Annual revenue generated
None
Number of staff (full-time, part-time, volunteers)
( 6 full-time, 40 part-time,3 volunteers)
What are the main barriers to financing your initiative, and how do you plan to address these barriers?
Sports activities do not find a priority of the funding agencies. Initiatives dealing with social and cultural change to address and traditions that increase the marginalization of women need a long money, The prior agenda of the funding agencies which does not include sports as a tool for social change. So we'll apply to funding agencies such as companies and banks by raising their social responsibility ,and the allocation for amount from grants for the deposits to expend its revenue on the innovation.Completing the program of volunteer from our foundation staff and the activists of civil work.
What are the major challenges with regards to partnerships?
Partnership with the government requires a long time to convince them to the innovation and the importance of sport beside the theoretical study (educational curriculum), but that if they are convinced they will be supporters through systems and regulatory decisions .
- Partnership with volunteers is a cutting Partnership because of the larger interest of earning a living because of low income and high prices of living needs.
