What is your signature innovation, your new idea, in one sentence?
Our mission is to help school-age girls to develop self-esteem, curb drug and alcohol abuse, prevent teen pregnancy and ensure high school graduation
How many people does your innovation serve or plan to serve? Exactly who will benefit?
We plan to serve as many interested girls in our communities. Currently we are working with about 50 girls ages 7 - 15. This is a county wide program.
Do you have any existing partnerships? If so, please list and describe.

How do you implement your innovation and apply it to the challenge/problem you are addressing?
Statistics show the rate of teenage pregnacies and drug abuse by our children. We have implemented our programs in our immediate community inviting girls between the ages of 7 - 15 to participate. We engage them in basketball, academics, sporting events, and cultural events to keep them motivated while building self-esteem and life skills.
Impact
Provide one sentence describing your impact/intended impact
Our impact will be to lower the number of girls involved with drugs/alcohol and teen pregnancies.
What does impact/success look like? Please list any tangible measures of the impact of your innovation
More girls are involved in constructive activities; therefore, taking their minds off of troubled areas in life.
Is there a chance that your project could change policy (within an institution or government)?
We are a 501(3)(C) project designed strictly to service our girls in the community.
Aside from financial sustainability, how do you plan to grow the initiative or expand your intended impact?
We want desperately a large Sports/Academic Facility to accomodate our girls. Giving a place of refuse and fun.

The Story
What stage is your project?
Ongoing project .
What was the motivation or defining moment that led to create this innovation? Tell us the story.
I have three (3) sons and one (1) daughter. I saw the opportunites available to the boys but not to my daughter at early ages. When she was eight years old, I decided to initially pursue a basketball club. I decided I could help more if I expanded the organization to help underprivilege children to excell.
Please tell us about the social innovator behind this initiative
With a daughter of my own and an advocated parent towards high education, I want to see children who have not a choice of their environment an equal opportunity chance at succeeding.

Hi BallinDivas2,
Cool idea - where is your program based? Do you have any plans to expand outside of the county?

I understand there has been a huge time lapse since your questions. I have been ill; but, wanted to answer your questions. The program is actually based out of Colorado Springs; however, I have started up also in North Carolina. So, we are expanding and growing! Yes someday! Currently, I would like to become quite successful in the US. I plan to build a facility where I can tutor children, hold seminars and workships, provide computer access, train them in various sports and how to live a safe and healthy life style. Thanks Stephani for asking.
Hello BallinDivas2,
I checked out your website and can't figure out where your program is based. Do you have any plans to expand or grow the program? What would you do with the prize money? Also how do you incorporate life skills into this program - is it purely basketball or do you cover things such as birth control, professional skills etc?
Holly
Dear Holly,
I understand there has been a huge time lapse since your questions. I have been ill; but, wanted to answer your questions. The program is actually based out of Colorado Springs; however, I have started up also in North Carolina. So, we are expanding and growing! If I had the prize money, I would use it to have more seminars and workshops for the girls. Various topics are presented from Academics, Obesity, social skills, birth control to basketball.
Thanks for asking Holly!
