What is your signature innovation, your new idea, in one sentence?

Project P.A.S.S. is a program designed to educate and equip female student-athletes residing in the Clayton County, Georgia area for college.

How many people does your innovation serve or plan to serve? Exactly who will benefit?

The program plans to serve between 200-300 female athletes who along with their parents will benefit immensely from the information given.

Do you have any existing partnerships? If so, please list and describe.

Our existing partnership is with Clayton State University where the classes and recruitment readiness workshops will take place.

How do you implement your innovation and apply it to the challenge/problem you are addressing?

The program will we implemented through two components. The first component will be ACT/SAT Preparatory Workshops. The state of Georgia was ranked #46 in the nation with high school students having an average SAT score of 993. It is our goal that through these workshops that the SAT scores of the students we service will surpass the state average.
The second component are the Recruitment Readiness Workshops which are designed to educate the college bound athlete on the recruiting and eligibility rules as they move from high school to college, as well as give them an insight as to what is expected of a college student-athlete. More than 700 female athletes compete in Clayton County Public Schools with less than 5% receiving scholarships at the collegiate level. The workshops will consist of speakers and presentations that will educate, empower and enlighten.

Project P.A.S.S. and its programs are designed to educate, empower and enlighten female student-athletes to the information needed for college.

What does impact/success look like? Please list any tangible measures of the impact of your innovation

The impact shown through Project P.A.S.S. is shown through the information that is given to the athletes and their parents who for so long have been misinformed. The tangible measures are participation rates and follow-up statistics as to the athletes who received scholarships as a result of the program.

No

Aside from financial sustainability, how do you plan to grow the initiative or expand your intended impact?

We plan on expanding Project P.A.S.S. to other counties south of Atlanta, Georgia such as Henry and Fayette.

The main barrier to financing the initiative is finding suitable financial backers for our program. We address this barrier by talking to fouundations who already provide funding for other programs and find out of any other sources through them.

The defining moment that led to the establishment of this program is the need for female student-athletes in a low to moderate income community to receive the exposure necessary to secure scholarships for college.
