Innovation
What is your signature innovation, your new idea, in one sentence?
To bring on board girls & women’s participation in the world of sports, so that they can utilize their talents for social and economic wellbeing
How many people does your innovation serve or plan to serve? Exactly who will benefit?
Our innovation plan to serve 300 women and girls. This will include both married and unmarried women and out of school girls who have no chance to participate in sports.
Do you have any existing partnerships? If so, please list and describe.
Yes we will be having an existing partnership we will work with. This partner is Liberty ministries international which is a faith based organization with 30 branch churches in the districts of Tororo, Palisa, Bugiri and Mbale all found in eastern Uganda. These churches will be our main entry to help mobilize the women and girls to participate in sports.
In which sector do these partners work? (Check all that apply)
How do you implement your innovation and apply it to the challenge/problem you are addressing?
The implementation of our innovation will be as follows: local village women teams will be formed in the district and they will use the available infrastructure to make practices in the selected sports. The needed equipments for the selected sports will be purchased so that each team participates. Different levels of competitions will be organized to get the best performers in the selected game so that we can come up with a very strong team that can compete at national and international levels. We will hire some coach in the selected sport to coach the women. When we have a strong team that is at the national level, then the team can now perform and people will come to watch and they will have to pay entry fee and in so doing, women will be making money, building their talents, gaining recognition at all levels and socially they will make lots of friends and as such they will be contributing to social and economic development of their home and country at large.
Impact
Provide one sentence describing your impact/intended impact
To bring on board the participation of women in the world of sports so that they can realize social economic change in their life.
What does impact/success look like? Please list any tangible measures of the impact of your innovation
Our impact will be that the women/girls will gain recognition in society as people who can also contribute to social and economic development. Women /girls will be able to perform the sport in authorized places like stadium and people will come to watch the sport and they will have to pay entry fee. This will help then generate income which they use for wellbeing of their families. Women will be able to move out of the kitchen and enter the world of sports which is very much liked by many people in world.
Is there a chance that your project could change policy (within an institution or government)?
Yes, institutions like schools have a policy that if a student left school say last year, that student is not to participant in any sports at school. So the project will register with the ministry of education and sports so that we can compete at all levels.
Aside from financial sustainability, how do you plan to grow the initiative or expand your intended impact?
Initially, we plan to start with the formation of 40 teams and then we will be able to come up with the best team to compete at national level. After that we will again organize to reach other areas which we have not reached so that we form again other teams and we get more women forming more teams and participating in sports. This will help us reach as many women/girls as we can and a lot of women will be able to participant in sports.

Sustainability
How is your initiative financed (or how do you expect your initiative will be financed)?
Our initiative will be financed by the money that will be generated when people come to see women performing in sports. Also the initiative will be supported by the sponsors who love sports both at local, national and international level provided the project starts and people see how good the women /girls can excel in the game, they will sport it.

What are the main barriers to financing your initiative, and how do you plan to address these barriers?
The main barriers to finance our initiative is lack of startup capital which is very hard to get mostly to support women in sports. When we get started, women will be able to challenge the men and the men will be encouraged to support women because the men will see the talents women display in sports and they will appreciate and contribute grate support to women
What are the major challenges with regards to partnerships?

The Story
What stage is your project?
Idea phase .
What was the motivation or defining moment that led to create this innovation? Tell us the story.
The motivation that led us to create this initiative is that we are sport lovers and one day when we watched a simple Netball game played by some women in our local village, they real performed well and some of them where playing very well in spite the fact that they did not go to school. So we thought that if these women can be empowered they can perform very well in sports. They have the talents but the talents are not being developed at all. We discovered that women have very good talents in sports which just need to be exploited.
Another incident was when there was a graduation party in our village early this year and some local musical instrument was being played and we saw some groups of women who performed a dance which attracted the attention of all the people and many people where exited and amused. So this made us think that if such women who can dance and attract all the attention of the public can be organized and empowered in the dancing, they could real perform better and they can use the dance to bring social economic change in their lives. So this made us think about this innovation to help women participant in sports.
Please tell us about the social innovator behind this initiative
The social innovator behind this initiative is to help women/girls come up and participant in the world of sports so that they are able to use sports to bring social economic development in their lives.
Our proposed activities will be: formation of women teams to participant in selected sports, carry out competitions to get the best performers so that we can come up with a strong team and then we will start to perform at official places.
