As founder of Developing Abilities Company, a non-profit organization that collects donations of philanthropic intellectual property, I am pioneering the use of donated IP to create jobs for people with disabilities. Your donations are used to build and support other non-profit organizations that employ people with disabilities, and also help individuals with disabilities who seek to start a microenterprise.

We are helping people with developmental disabilities, autism, aging issues, disease, injury, and other disabilities. Wounded warriors and civil servants who have served us and our country are also a vital part of our mission.

Be a part of our paradigm shift in job creation.

Contact us if you are interested in being a donor of IP, real property with surface and subsurface rights, capital funding, or a few hours of your time and expertise.

If you are a donee who needs help, please tell us about yourself and how we can help you.

Problem

People with disabilities, and the organizations that provide employment solutions for them, are in need of ideas and innovation that create jobs and improve income. Developing Abilities Company is changing the way jobs are created for people with disabilities by collecting donations of intellectual property, developing business plans from the donated IP, and then distributing the philanthropic IP to people with disabilities and the organizations that provide employment for them.

Solution

For profit businesses, individuals, and non profit institutions such as universities, are sources of intellectual property such as patents, patentable ideas, know how, trademarks, copyrights, and technology solutions. As a non-profit entity, Developing Abilities Company is pioneering the use of such philanthropic intellectual property to create jobs for people with disabilities. For donors of IP who seek a tax deduction we provide an accounting of qualified donee income as defined by the Internal Revenue Code. An example of using donated IP to push our mission is our "End of Aisle" campaign to have a product section at the end of every aisle of our stores with products and goods made by people with disabilities, promoting their work, and also the support of the donor who was generous to contribute to its manufacture, placement, and offering for sale. This is a metamorphism in marketing that corporate donors will embrace.

Example

Every non-profit wants your money - your tangible assets. Sure we do too. But we really want is your intangible assets - donations of your intellectual property, your ideas and inventions, your patents, trademarks, copyrights, business plans, know how. We help workshops that serve and employ people with disabilities, and also individuals with a disability who want to own a business, by creating manufacturing and service jobs from the donated IP.

Marketplace

We have identified over 600 community workcenters for people with disabilities, and social service providers who support individuals who seek to start a microbusiness. We are building our network of supergroups who serve specific categories of disabilities, to expand our manufacturing and service base. We are also working with government agencies with the goal of developing social impact bonds to reduce the cost of entitlements but maintain a high level of support for people with disabilities.
