History gets more effective & enjoying, when being active in a team & excited in treasure hunts, set by role-playing facilitators in archeological sites!

WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

What if we could blend our future technology with ancient wisdom ?
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Modern Greeks always seek value from their "famous ancestors". Greek students don't really get an answer from formal education to "why Greeks were important". Passion and ignorance some times lead to dangerous neo-fascism doctrines in order to explain why we are too important to be suppressed.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Travel - discover - collaborate with teachers, researchers, travelers, thinkers and artists is what we enjoy and what we do in order to inspire local communities discover their "hidden treasures". We build sustainable growing youth networks in Greek regions that role-play (4children) , track&display (4youth) & support regular cultural activities, in order to uncover "the everyday wisdom" of their ancestors and fit it to their modern culture & environment as a quality life example.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Modern Theves is a city built over ancient Theves. Mycenean Palace is hidden 2 metres above, while some ancient temples and tοmbs are obvious in higher locations inside city span. There is Apollo's temple next to Theves bus station and Hercules house 300 metres next to it. Our 2013 Mythical-Treasure-Hunt of "Lost Narkissos" (see cover photo) took 20 children a trip around 4 mycenean locations. While asking mythical heroes/oracles where Narkissos could be children discovered next-door treasures they had no idea of their existance !

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

There are childrens' network in Theves area (2013), in Milos island (2008) and city of Sitia in East Crete (2014). And Teenagers communities in Theves area (2014) & Milos island (2013). Strong citizens network is created in Theves and Crete. Around 120 people are actived in total for Future Culture up to date.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We plan to expand mobilities and presentations for teenagers and support them to produce cultural-touristic material for their area. Up to 2030 we hope to expand our network to more regions according to motivation of local communities. At the moment photographic material of ancientgreece.gr is excibited to promote Future Culture 2030 vision and more people get in touch with us because in a way they didnt know "these stones next door" was so much of importance !

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

We try on crowd-funding initiatives and also hope for a grant by a Greek foundation wants to invest on Culture & Education programs.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are several initiatives for cultural education. We want to be based on non-formal education and authentic relationships between volunteers.

An interesting project in which are actively involved children and youth. First of all, we liked it because it allows the acquisition of direct and immediate knowledge through travel and research.
