Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

Kiddify is a peer to peer skill-sharing/knowledge video platform for children/youth between the ages of 8 through 18. It is a safe place for users to share their skills and talents with each other; learn about what their peers around the world are doing; and a place to be inspired by mentors

WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

All children around the world had access to the tools needed to realise their potential
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Problem 1: Children are often squelched out of their innate creativity and curiosity once they enter into the school walls. Problem 2: There is a lack of safe and moderated online environments for children under 18 where they can exchange, learn from each other, share ideas. Problem 3: There is a lack of connection between what pupils learn in school and the real world.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

To create an infrastructure where children can share their skills/talents/knowledge with their peers by creating their on tutorials/videos on topics that are relevant to them. The videos are checked and translated into various languages and moderated/curated into the various sections. Mentors are also invited to create tutorials on demand from the users on topics (such social entrepreneurship, leadership, wellness....).
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

The platform is not yet launched how we are working with schools at the moment. to date, we have visited under-resourced schools throughout Germany. We begin our work by showing the kids/youth sample tutorials of other children from India to the class. They learn about what their peers in India are doing/able to do and have a discussion on what they ave seen. The pupils then decide which tutorials they would like to create for the platform and begin working on them to share with their peers across the globe. The process is empowering and the pupils enjoy playing the role of becoming an "expert" in topics that they enjoy. Mentor tutorials also supplement the learning process.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

To date, the platform has not yet been officially launched. It is planned for September 2014. In the future, we intend to motivate children/youth from around the world to share their knowledge with their peers. We intend to create a massive and positively engaging network of peer-empowerment where every single individual has a voice; a chance to show off what they can do; share their knowledge, ideas and connect with like-minded peers across the globe. We aim to create a network of mentors in various fields, who can support the curiosity and talents of the users should they desire-bringing in experiences and topics that one would not normally find within the school environment and are directly related to the users' interests and needs.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We aim to partner with already existing youth groups/organisations working with the target group, schools and ministries of education in as many countries as we can. By establishing "Kiddify" Hubs, in each country, we can effectively target the children/youth within that population and cater to their specific needs.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Kiddify will invite sponsors to become donors for the various categories on the platform. Donors can offer premium content, cover specific projects, or run contests.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

The marketplace has a number of skills-sharing platforms. However, none of them to-date are specifically addressed to suit the needs and desires of the demographic: 8 through 18.

Founding Story

I had the luck of being able to travel around the world with my parents from an early age. I always wished that every child could share in those wonderfully rich experienced I was able to enjoy. My childhood dream was always to create some sort of a structure to enable kids around the world to experience what their peers were doing, learn from them, exchange with them and share knowledge. This dream took the form of small projects in school for which I worked. This dream is what motivated me to pursue a PhD in education. After a decade of working as a consultant and helping to build schools, I realised what was missing. It was clear that I had to set out to realise that initial dream I had always harboured and with that, Kiddify was born.

Some areas for improvement, but I like the idea and the presentation made me want to know more, especially as this initiative aligns well with one I have posted. Nice video!

Awesome idea! And the website design is great too.

Have you thought about the possibility of streaming some tutorials in real time so kids can interact and ask questions?

We look forward to watch the tutorials!
