By means of SSWS' earnest efforts every child is to be mainstreamed in the society. Also infuse within them consciousness regarding health and hygiene. We dream of a future where children and mothers will be emanicipated from the bondage of poverty and social pejoration.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

1) Problem of increasing drop out rate in schools & low nutritional level among poor children. 2) Poor children lack in proper academic guidence & their extra-curricular talents are not nurtured properly. 3) Children from marginalised households become vulnerable to several diseases & due to poverty they are not subjected to proper medical treatment.

1) Enrollment of drop outs in schools and providing them books & other stationary items for education. 2) Arrangement of remedial coaching classes for them where supplementary nutrition would be provided in the form of tiffin. 3) To nurture their extra-curricular talents by giving them training on dance, mime, elocution, drama which in terms influences the students by affreshing their mind, intellect and energy, for improvement of their academic education etc. 4) To arrange free of cost treatment to these marginalised children & their family members through means of health camps & referral services.

1) Significant reducal of drop out rate of children from schools & improvement of their academic results by imbibing the values of education through an environment of creative arts and games. 2)Improvement of the nutritional status of the children & they became less vulnerable to different diseases. 3)They expressed their talents and have won laurels in extra-carricular activities like dance,drama,mime,drawing & recitation. 4)The marginalised community realized the paramount importance of rendreing integrated education to their children and also understood the importance of creative arts for comprehensive and sustainable development of children. 5) Important stakeholders are made to feel the importance of contributing their valuable resources for the development of these poor children.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

1)In order to give a comprehensive health care facility to the children we plan to start a mobile health care programme. 2) We are planning to spread the network of remedial coaching centers to interior villages of West Bengal in order to bring the poor children within the sphere of remedial education programme. 3) We are planning to start a children's home where orphans will be given shelter & education both (academic & vocational) for their mainstreaming in the society till the age of 18 years. 4) We are on the verge of starting an open school till class twelve level for drop out children.
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

1) We will leavy funds from the community through different local actions. 2) We will ask for individual contribution from important stakeholders of the community to run the project. 3) Events like "Sishu Mela", Rabindrajayanti, Raki, help us to procure many advertisements, the money leavied from those adds help us to run the programme. 4) We will publish advertisements in our souveneir which will act as a major source for us to run the programme.

Addressing the issues realted to children are quite common and many renowned oragnisation are doing it in India, also abroad, for example Nandi Foundation is focussing in most of the states of Southern India. Save the children and Water for People, in many countries of the world. But Sankhasubhra Welfare Society being a state level organisation is implementing the educational programme in an integrated fashion by helping the children to incorporate the spirit of education through an environment of creative arts. A paradigm which is unique and not being replicated by any other organisation.

Founding Story

Our founder secretary Ms. Sampa was always worried about the marginalised children, dwelling in slums and foothpaths, in the district of Hooghly in West Bengal. Being too much philanthropic in disposition, she decided to mainstream these under privileged children. Ms. Sarkar belonging to an affluent family invested her own financial resources to render them new clothes, arrange for medical treatment, non-formal and remedial education along with supplementary nutrition. But gradually she realised that for a mass scale welfare she needs to be more scientific and professional in approach. Thus establishing a society, in 2006, SankhaSubhra Welfare Society, became the need of the hour. Many of the same mind frame joined her in this endeavour

1) Significant reducal of school dropout rate in our area of work. Out of proposed 300 children,60 percentwill secure more than 75 percent marks in their academic results and also become computer savy . 2) Children will win several laurals & prizes in creative arts. 3) There will be no instances of malnutrition among the proposed beneficiaries. 4) The beneficiaries will be subjected proper health check up, medicinal and referral support. 5) Through means of potent social action instance of child abusal, exploitation,child marriage and child trafficking will not occur within our area of work.
