As children grows from infancy to adolescent they need to learn different skills which helps them to cope with day to day life . "Child Savings " is a concept where children in child participatory approach learn about individual rights ,responsibility and importance of saving,spending & budgeting.

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The most important goal of education is to prepare children for life and to impart knowledge, skills, and attitudes which make them self-supportive individuals and productive citizens.But our formal school curriculum has less importance on that .Classroom transaction is hardly encourage children to learn about the life skill which helps them to cope with day to day life . The children often dropout at early age me and become dropout

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The project unite children in form of children club where they make fun,joy,mutual sharing in a child to child approach and in a joyful way learn about health,hygine ,displine ,child rights and savings . They do Savings not only in terms of money,do it in terms of food,electricity,water,environment.Teachers who are they key actor of education are trained in such a way they help the children to discuss and act on issue affecting their school and community ,encourage to conduct savings .The children are encouraged to think independently about their decision ,differentiate right from wrong . Peer group pressure helps dropout to come back to school . Parents become mobilize to send their children regularly .

Bipram Suna , proud father of Sanjukta told YCDA staff “I am proud of my child ,she contributed Rs 1200 for roof threshing in rainy season which was so urgent for me and also I am thankful to YCDA for teaching them savings and social responsibility”. Sanjukta Suna, a 13 years girl is reading 8th class in Jamtangi School contributed to her family for the construction of the cottage and with the support of the small saving Sanjukta her father became able to repair his small hut which is the only room for staying of a six members poor household It is not only an example to the other children for saving but also it teaches a lesson to the parents to encourage their children for saving.

The children got aware on child rights and develop a sense of social and financial responsibility which leads them to build up a positive attitude and behavior for career development. 2. The children became the change agent for their communities on culture of savings and financial management. The thought of the Education department regarding financial management and savings was not very positive .But beating the challenges we have reached 450 govt. schools holding the child savings concept where we got the positive answer from the govt. teachers who gladly accepted the theory and facilitating the process in the respective schools.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

10000 underprivileged children and their families will be engaged in sound social,economic and financial practice .The children will understand money and the market that governs them .They will understand their rights and exercise regularly .They will grow up to become responsible citizen ,aware of the uniqueness in different people and will have the open minded to respect that .Overall the children will be ready to face "Life" .Life skill is neglected in present education curriculum so there is need to strengthen the people centric advocacy to influence policy &make education "Relevant"

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

From previous experiences of organization it has been proved that concept has a great potentiality to be replicated and it has been well accepted by parents, community. So it is expected this concept will be widely accepted by other like minded NGOs, financial institution and community .Basically for scaling up and maintaining quality there is need for financial resources, capital support, and technical support. There is a possibility that Govt also adopt the process as already we have experienced that different innovative approaches has been accepted by Govt in different times and upgraded .

We request viewers of this project to link us with financial institutions/donor agencies so that we can carry out this work in a long run & can reach to more number of children

Founding Story

Mithun ,a 10 years old child of DIGI, was migrating to other places with parents in search of livelihhod . Obvious he bacame dropout and child labour . DIGI children club identified Mithun as dropout and started their efforts to bring back in school .After several round of discussion with parents,teachers,SMC at last children became able to convince his parents to work and stay in village . Mithun admitted in 5th class as per his age appropriate education. From the date of admission Mithun has been continuing education. similar examples of intervention encouraged founder to scale up the programme at different districts of Orissa where poverty ,migration compels the children to end school life and enter into unskilled labour work


A 6 members staff team and 20 volunteers are working in 450 schools of Boudh ,Bolangir and Sonpur . They are well trained and 250 teachers has been trained who are working as a change agent for spreding the concept among larger community
