The Play Exchange Is Open For Voting!

We're excited to announce that voting for The Play Exchange Challenge is now open! The Play Exchange is a national challenge open to all Canadians and their ideas for promoting active living across Canada.

We received 422 entries from across Canada, and six finalists have been selected by a panel of expert judges. Now it’s up to the Canadian public to choose the winner. The finalist with the most votes will be eligible for an investment of up to $1-million from the Government of Canada to put their winning ideas into action.


Here are the six finalists:

Healthy Schools: Putting Students First empowers schools to create their own programs for creating healthier school communities. The program recognizes that schools have unique needs, and provides schools across Ontario with the guidance and tools to engage students to take ownership of their own well-being.

Walk to Tuk Challenge is a walking challenge that encourages people to form teams and together ‘walk the distance’ of the Mackenzie River from Fort Providence to Tuktoyaktuk. Teams collectively attempt to walk a total of 1658km, between January and March.

Trottibus is a pedestrian bus service that gives elementary school children the chance to walk to school every weekday morning safely under adult supervision and to have fun at the same time.

Sharing Dance is an online platform developed by Canada's National Ballet School that will provide fun, inspirational, and culturally diverse dance content, and unparalleled resources for the community and for teachers of dance. Sharing Dance is for students of all ages.

Prescription to Get Active tackles chronic disease by enabling physicians to write prescriptions for physical activity. Along with limited free access to a local recreation centre, patients living sedentary lifestyles gain motivation and encouragement.

GOODcoins is a web & mobile platform that enables Canadians to track their physical activities and meet healthy living goals. The platform promotes healthy choices through daily reminders, encouraging messaging, and rewarding participant’s successes with GOODcoins, a social currency.
