About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Water Starvation

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

RaHa is unique: As water starved villages and schools are nominated for RaHa Clean Close Water systems, we build the systems for all the nominees while taking photos of built systems. We invite advertisers to COLLECT RAHA SOLUTIONS (photos of built systems). An advertiser collects a photo for mentioning their support in small parts of their ads –– these are the same ads that they plan to publish in any 7 days. (If the subject advertiser is called Kaka and the subject school/village is called Kuku, Kaka mentions that ‘Kaka supports RaHa Solutions, Kuku’). This spreads information about us, freeing funds that we would otherwise spend on field officers and publicity. The freed money is equal to cost of major parts of the Kuku’s system.

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

We are giving RaHa Clean Water to Bundle of Joy Creche, Durban, South Africa. When a business (called KaKa, say) mentions in small part of their adverts that "Kaka Supports RaHa Solutions, Bundle of Joy", the business will enable us to build similar system for another village or school...

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

We are currently promoting the idea. We hope to start building one system a week after the promotion – promotion is expected to end in June 2017.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

The same way we are working in Durban, we will work with or through organizations like Rotary Clubs to reach every water-starved villages and schools in the world
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

we will continue our current promotion to ensure that enough people are aware of our solution

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There is a huge number of organisations addressing problem outlined here. We differ from these approaches, we are not relying on donations for the project.

Founding Story

Founder was working as a civil engineer on a road project. Quarries that were sunk for the road collected very dirty water, but the communities along the road had to use the water to avoid walking long distances for alternative water. Founder felt that water project should have been done instead of the road project. The feeling led him into founding the subject solution.
