Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.
An athlete in Azerbaijan had a minor injury during a practice. She was taken to a local hospital where she was wrongly diagnosed, wrongly treated and infected with a very heavy blood-transmitted virus. Now her injury has gotten much worse and requires an open surgery as well as long-term treatment to recover from the virus that she has been infected with. Not only did the local doctors not help her, they turned her minor injury into a potentially career-ending one and severely damaged her quality of life. With our question and answer service might've helped her get treatment information for her injury. Once she's been mistreated and her injury was getting worse, with our telemedicine service she could've gotten a second opinion.
Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.
We're still in design and development stage.
Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?
We're aiming to take advantage of existing non-profit healthcare systems and organisations to spread the word initially. Later, using non-profit connectivity initiatives such as Internet.org and by working directly with local telecoms we will let more people know about this new, exciting product.
Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?
We plan on charging a small percentage fee for doctor's online chat sessions.
Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?
http://www.doctorondemand.com/
https://www.healthtap.com/
Both of these services are US-focused and are too expensive for the rest of the world. Also there's a language barrier - which we plan on addressing by being international-first and baking localisation right into the product from get-go.
Founding Story
Coming from a family of three generations of doctors, medicine was something that was always in my blood. I've come across multiple stories of people's lives ruined by mistreatments by incompetent doctors. Upon further research, I've discovered struggles that millions of people go through due to lack of access to basic medical information. However, the problem with looking up such questions online was trust. All of this brought me to the idea of creating an international, question and answer service which would allow people to get access to a vast amount of high quality information compiled by thousands of verified doctors with a peer-review style trust system for free.
Team
Right now the team consists of only me, Rustam Eynaliyev. I'm the originator of the idea, the lead designer and developer and the sole advocate.
Multiple friends of mine from across the world have expressed interest in joining me and helping me bring the product to their respective countries. However, most of them already have their hands full with their jobs and would require some financial compensation to join me.
