About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

This problem is trying to alleviate extreme poverty faced by women in Karagwe as a result of culture and oppression.Most women are not employed,not educated,not allowed to inherit.hence poor.This project aims at empowering them economically as a way to empowerment.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The proposed solution is to empower the women economically, by making them get employment by starting up small income generating activities and providing them with business and entrepreneurship skills to enable them master their businesses successfully.

Currently,through the project,the women are able to afford their basic needs,they are running income generating activities hence employed.Their economy has grown from zero to 5 dollar per day.

The project has benefited 65 women in Kyanga and Bugene wards of Karagwe Tanzania.We plan to expand our services to more three wards and benefit 1,000 women by 2018.

Poverty alleviation is a Tanzania's main policy.Women empowerment being the key area for poverty alleviation.

This project is a revolving fund.Clients pay an interest of 20% for the period of 8 months.The interest is used to add on the income and serve more people as it grows.

Our project deals with only women,who according to research,they are good clients in micro credit than men.That is why our project is showing success.

Founding Story

Karagwe Rural Development and Environmental Conservation Agency (KARUDECA) is a local registered organization working in the district of Karagwe,Kagera region of the united republic of Tanzania, with registration No. 05NGO/0269 as per NGO ACT of 2002. KARUDECA deals with Education promotion, Environmental conservation, Micro finance/Micro credit, Agriculture, Health/CBR and women and youth Empowerment. KARUDECA was registered in December 2007 following a formation of University graduates group who wanted to serve their immediate communities as a part of their appreciation to their community for educating them.
