Change How Service Providers Operate
A culture of wellbeing demands co-creation with a child’s full community. Service providers that involve a myriad of voices are most success at creating solutions that prioritize what is best for a child.
To best serve the needs to children, initiatives should create avenues for organizations and experts to listen to community members, caregivers and the children, themselves. Successful service providers don’t just consult, they give the community direct input into programmatic decisions.
The staff and educators at Momentous Institute see first hand how issues of poverty, toxic stress and trauma often hinder a student’s ability to learn and develop social-emotional skills. Momentous Institute was founded with the vision of supporting students equally in academics and with emotional wellbeing from an early age.
Momentous Institute is a school that enables the every person in the community to create solutions to that support children. Educators at the school strive to intimately know each of their student’s upbringing and how it has shaped their perspective, and faculty regularly meet families out in the community to share activities that support the student’s development. Momentous opens up dedicated time and space in the school for families in the community to gather and connect, weaving a collective culture of wellbeing around all the students.
Community involvement in initiatives, programs, and organizations make service providers more inclusive, empowering, and effective in cultivating children’s wellbeing.
