Citizen Networking, a niche networking site to get all citizens together.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Any citizen media is a new concept, despite its straightforward understanding. The awareness is negligible even among the educated and technology savvy people. The entire world is a community and perfect market to introduce and encourage citizen participation. Once known, it will be accepted big time like social networking.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Our solution is not only to spread awareness but also offer a platform in different verticals for citizens across the world and especially India to participate collectively. It will be a citizen community come together, irrespective of nationality, age, gender, etc. More on the lines of citizen networking.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Once a platform is there that offers multiple verticals, awareness needs to be spread and get people to come together, talk, share and discuss various issues and even collectively act on it should a need arise. It is open and undiscriminating to all in a true democratic and free speech arena. The only challenge is to spread awareness of the existence of such a platform. People need to be told, where, how, when and details to use this solution. Citizens can learn from each other, be supportive for each other and find a friend amongst the humanity.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Peers or competitors are those with similar platforms for news and views of and by the citizens. The difference is that they except articles and news by writers and syndicates and we are looking for much more.

Social Impact
FOUNDING STORY: We want to hear about your “Aha!” moment. Share the story of where and when the founder(s) saw this solution’s potential to change the world.

I am a professional journalist and freelancing for a number of local newspapers and online news sites. As a true journalist i found it very difficult to report the truth and facts of stories, simply because the people, companies or organizations were also big advertisers and sponsors and hence dictated what should be published and what not. This was a big set back and i decided that a better option albeit an online one should be offered where anyone can report or submit stories, news, issues without any fear or anyone stopping them from doing so. A true democratic set-up!

Specify both the depth and scale of your solution’s social impact to date

Initially people were shocked at the existence of such a model in this world, then came the confusion and a trickle of participation. However, due to severe limitation of finances and resources, the solution has not reached too far and the social impact has thus been compromised. However, those who know, understand have been very encouraging and this is pushing us despite all odds. Who has benefited? we do not have numbers but we know all have been affected who have known or participated.

What is your projected impact within the next 1-5 years? Is your idea replicable? If so, how?

Yes! We are bringing in innovations and the impact will increase tremendously compared to today. There is nothing that cannot be replicated but we need to stand out by being the first, and constantly evolving.

What barriers have hindered the success of your project to date? How do you plan to overcome these and other challenges as you grow your solution?

The major barriers are: 1. Understanding the concept fully by the people. 2. Spreading the message far and wide and 3. Financing.

We are making changes and realized that what we had was not enough, we tweaked our product but still find it less compared to the new innovative idea that we have thought upon. The challenge will now be financing and spreading the product and solution far and wide and for which some heavy duty advertising and/or marketing is needed.

How do you see the information-technology and media sectors shifting over the next decade? How will your solution adapt to and/or drive that changing environment?

By creating multiple verticals to offer old and new technology platforms. From radio to the latest mobile and visual channels. The future lies in the visual impact, more than the word and audio.

Failure is not always an option. If your solution fails to gain traction in the next two years, what other applications of the idea could you explore?

Every mother feels their baby to be the best and most unusual, so is the case with people bringing their new ideas into the open. We cannot rule out failure, it is part of everything, whether we like it or not. The idea is to take the entire concept into visual format or bring in different set of innovative ideas depending on the then current technology and society.

Expand on your selections, explaining how you will sustain funding

Unique concept of advertising is the primary source of funding and another source is to explore by syndication, selling and marketing distribution rights to other channels and technology. And the third option will be needed that is still being explored.
