Consortium Cooperation is a platform which produce socially innovative tools designed by HRM consulting firms which help big companies to develop more strong intergeneration cooperation among senior workers and their young co-workers. Our cooperation in consortium results in more efficient work and effective knowledge transfer from seniors to juniors based on strong intergeneration cooperation and understanding of each other.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

In our daily cooperation with different companies we realize that there is a big problem on a field of cooperation between senior and junior worker. Because of generation gap and lack of understanding each other they are not so efficient as they should be. Seniors often feel endangered by juniors and because they are afraid to lose job they don`t want to share their precious knowledge with juniors. Junior often don`t respect seniors. They often don`t like work with seniors because seniors don’t use technology so well like juniors. They also have problems in communication. Seniors like to have meeting in person juniors prefer communication via different technology. And because working life is longer and longer this problems will increase.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We design prototype of IG tool which help seniors and juniors to connect more efficiently. It is 6 mounts long educational training which is performed in companies which are also members of our consortium. It consists with 4 interactive workshops with different useful topics, further more we connect them into organized mentorship pairs. Each pair must carry out various tasks. They also perform interesting project together. Also 12 supervision meetings are organized on which everyone can express their filings, problems, fears and compliments. From all the participants we also choose 2 persons which receives special training and become experts whit a mission to use our IG tool and incorporate other co-workers who didn`t participate yet.
Impact: How does it Work

Mark and Tom are working in a big glass factory. Mark is a senior in age of 52, Tom in age 21 just start working. They didn`t cooperate so well because Tom always wanted to do every task quickly and often reckless. Mark always took time to think about the task and had problems by using new computer equipment which was just installed in their production line. This took him even longer time to finish task. Then they enter our education program. Mark become Tom`s mentor. In workshops they spent some quality time and they know each other more. As s mentor pair they must design 2 innovations which could be implemented in their production line they also had to bake a cake for their co-workers. This was the fun part linked them even more.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

If our tool will be successfully designed it could be implemented (with minor corrections) in every working environment in the world. So we believe that our project have a huge impact potential. We will also invite researchers in our consortium that they will make research and experiments, write articles and spread the word around the world. We believe that when will boards and owners of companies realize the effectiveness of our tool the knowledge will spread with rapid speed through corporate sector.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

We did not detected similar project so far in Slovenia. So we are the first. And the problem is so big that representatives of 3 big Slovenian companies came to us asking for the solutions and even sign letter of endorsement in which they promise that they will buy the product if it will be efficient.

Team

Both organizations have full support in their management. Management in Ypsilon institute will support project manager with a lot of quality links in companies which are already cooperating with institute and of course borrow well known and respectful brand. Management from co-partner is fully connected with the project because they also perform workshops in the field. Because they work a lot in corporate sector they have also a lot of quality links to our potential corporate partners.

Impact

Despite all the technological development we are witnessing nowadays the human relationship plays the most important role in work efficiency. If people don`t understand and accept each other they can`t cooperate. If they can`t cooperate the task are not completed in time or even not completed at all. In the end of the day that means loosing money. But the main driver which motivates us to perform this project is fact that working in unpleasant environment whit unfriendly atmosphere causes depression, feelings of incompetents, anger, which leads to illnesses, mobbing, ect. This kind of problems doesn`t reflect just on workers but also on their families. So if we teach people how to reach better understanding of each other this will reflect on their job efficiency. Our innovation will contribute to increase people`s personal well-being and well-being of their families.

Sustainability

Sustainability Plan: Has your project already reached financial sustainability? If not, what is this solutio’s plan to ensure financial sustainability? Do the main partners have enough stake to sustain the solution? If this project requires limited budget, how will other resources be secured to maintain or grow this work?

Our project so far had not received any funding. But we have simple and clear plan how to built financially sustainable project. When we design proper tool we will start selling it to companies. Company will get access to our educational toll whit entering our consortium. For participating in consortium they will have to pay. Some of the participation fee will go to performer of the education some of the fee will stay in consortium to finance further activities. If members of consortium have additional educational needs and establish cooperation with education provider through the consortium, project also gets 20% of agreed value of transaction. With support from your award we could easily design successful prototype.

Founding Story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the Partners to get started and/or to see the potential for this to succeed.

Ypsilon institute is very well known Slovenian NGO. It runs many different projects all related to intergeneration cooperation. The biggest is Simbioza in which every year several thousand young volunteers across the country teach several thousand elderly people how to use computer. So we are very successful and famous in a field of intergeneration cooperation. So that is way representatives of big Slovenia companies came to us and ask us if we can help them to solve conflict in their working environment. This was our AHA! moment. We realize the problem and start working on a solution.

About the Co-Creation
Barriers: What main barriers may you have encountered to co-create during the creation and implementation of the project and how did you try to overcome them?

If we make proper interest among companies we could face lack of educated trainers. Solution: we build data base of all the trainers in companies that we can activate them in case of need.
Barrier is also a lack of funding. If we do not make a proper prototype of IG tool fast enough and don’t find few partners in consortium we could run out of resources. Solution: we must transform signed letter of endorsements to real business contracts and collect participial fee as soon as possible.

Governance: What is the type of the relationship between the partners? (e.g. joint venture, contractual relationship, joint project...)

At the start our relationship is based on letters of endorsement, contracts and join project. In the near future we could found together joint venture – educational cooperative society

Interaction model: How is the project a transformative partnership? How is the interaction transforming the partnering organizations and their employees/ leadership in terms of creating a new vision, new management practices, new skills and new organizational structures? Please provide for concrete examples

The important point of our collaboration in this project is learning from each other. Our project partner will gain our knowledge and experience from field of intergeneration cooperation. They will also make new connections with our partners and supporters. We will learn from our partner how certain knowledge and experience could be designed in a proper tool which is practical, easy to use and effective. Though partnership we will make connections with their partners. Together will will design a new solution which is socially innovative.
