The gap among the social layers in the Hungarian society keeps getting wider! Determined civil organizations like Real Pearl Foundation try to stop the process. The trustworthy communication of the problem without making increasing social sensitivity of people can’t be solved. For that we need a particular knowledge and system of connections like a communication company such as Mediacom, where they can identify with the goals of the foundation.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

There can’t be layers that fell behind, people need to be supportive, actively participate in the processes. Now negative stereotypes make the situation harder but communication can take new and positive turn. New technologies can be used as tools to make changes. Organizations on the field don’t have the skills for this. The attention of a company which works in that area can add a lot to stop prejudice, to amplify and support the civil work.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We have to find those channels where we can influent bigger crowds, like internet, social media and television. A realistic problem map, the suggestion for the solution and the communication of the results can both change the perspective and give a chance to improve social sensibility, to charitable work on solving a problem, which cannot be solved without exterior help. Two skills unite in our work: a field change maker and a communication campaign planner and arranger. The previous opens a road to solve the difficulties, the latter to communicate with the society. The successful cooperation can indicate an improving general feeling, a civil union or companies to play social roles. Our work together may set an example to the others.
Impact: How does it Work

The communication of our handicraft project with the women living in extreme poverty can succesfully change the stereotipes about the gypsy’s working attitude, on the other hand it can bring buyers to us which assure the living for the families. If there is no communication about this work, the people won’t know about it and the stereotipes, the struggle in isolation will stay. The company can make its own empleyees more sensible and can affect the public feeling by its role in the society.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We’re looking for those segments of the Real Pearl’s work which affect the social sensibility the most e.g. the situation, talent of the children or the value-creating work of the adults. Mediacom is looking for an appropriate activity form for this. For the first time they organized an auction, the next year they had a 1% campaign. Both of them successfully directed the attention to the organization and the problem and made people more sensible about it.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

About change-making and it’s communication the two organizations collate continuously. The foundation handle the amplifying points. Mediacom aims the public (with short films, messages, press, facebook, etc.) and those companies which can support the communication (publication, organization, program locations, etc) or Real Pearl.What people don’t know about, they don’t care. Mediacom doesn’t only look for supporters for a foundation but their work forms the aspect which can mobilize more partners. These partners support the growing communication possibilities and the foundation which due to them can work more effectively and give us the possibility to amplify more positive things.


Both sides of the team tone the leaders brainstorming, information, opportunities, estimate the materialized projects. Our meetings, the fact that we keep in touch constantly are innovative and trouble free. All the workers feel all the projects as they were their own, the management supervise it but we implement it as a team.

As a result of our collaboration we got the attention of multiple companies and individuals. Many people supported the social and educational activity of the foundation and the number of people who gave us 1% of their taxes has increased significantly. Moving forward in this direction the employees of Mediacom have a lot more ideas how to get more attention to people living in extreme poverty and to the problem by helping a civil initiate, the Real Pearl Foundation change maker work. The union of skills is happening and the result is moving forward the solving of the problem and forming the appropriate emotional support.

The goal of the corporation is amplifying the activity of the foundation, which among the effect on the public feeling, more and more supporters, companies and civilians can connect to the communication campaign and support the foundation’s work. The trustworthy communication about the problems, the work and the success is the common goal which can create new sources and this is a guarantee for sustainability.

Founding Story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the Partners to get started and/or to see the potential for this to succeed.

After the first support we understood the opportunities of helping each other. Mediacom employees understood after their visit that all of our future has an influence on the ones who live in misery. When they expressed the aim to help, it became clear there are lots of skills, connections, tools-we don’t know about. With their help the case can be amplified, people can be sensitized and we can affect creating a more liveable world. We have to show the possibilities of giving assistance, prejudice has to be destroyed by positive samples and we need sources for both of them: communication and field equally. Sensitizing affects positively on politics too. After the election when Jobbik forged ahead everybody could realize it.

About the Co-Creation
Barriers: What main barriers may you have encountered to co-create during the creation and implementation of the project and how did you try to overcome them?

The segregation, misery, the Roma integration are not the most appreciative topics in Hungary. Prejudice, discrimination are stronger than facing the facts. The general feeling more negative than positive. The society turns to successes that come fast and get feedback immediately. For example painting a kindegarten’s fence or reading tales to sick children, etc. In many cases you have to fight for others attention, for taking responsibility, communicating and helping to solve the problem. Understanding the real situation, showing it, unfolding the problem can help it.

Governance: What is the type of the relationship between the partners? (e.g. joint venture, contractual relationship, joint project...)

The relationship between the two companies is based on the common project, which we organize together and both of our skills and work appear. Our collaboration is positive, developing and effective.

Interaction model: How is the project a transformative partnership? How is the interaction transforming the partnering organizations and their employees/ leadership in terms of creating a new vision, new management practices, new skills and new organizational structures? Please provide for concrete examples

As long as we can make more factors work where we can achieve our goals, our collaboration becomes more effective and a strong partnership. Until now amplifying the integration work, organizing campaigns and actions, taking a supportive layer in was the main work for the collaboration. We concentrated on a certain time, like the 1% campaign or solving one problem at a time, e.g. solving the crisis of our art school. In our further projects we concentrate on continuity. For the foundation it makes new areas, for the company new, unusual communication ways. It is important to show the issue to the public effectively, to form the aspect and to find supporters.
