About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Stari aerodorm is part of the town where lives app 15k inhabitants. This was the only part of our town which had no any place for recreation, gathering and even children's playground. Our action are based on results of need assessment in local communty.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Solution for the recognized problem in the "Stari Aerodrom" community was to create place for gathering. We wanted to do something together where will be involve all neighbors. We mobilized the whole community for the implementation of actions in which we built a running track and playground from recycled materials. During preparing and planning process we intensively worked with our partner ADP-Zid, civil society organization. But, in action realization ADP-Zid involved represent from public sector, a lot of volunteers from different part of country and Europe, and neighbors. The process of realization was divided into 4 segments: needs assessment analysis, mapping of resources in local community, community mobilization and action.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Running track and playground are built 2012th. Until today the number of people who train and spend time there are tripled compared to the days when we start to prepare the action. This place got new exercise equipment and new visitors. It became a gathering place for all generations who manage health lifestyles.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

The biggest benefit is the innovation in terms of engagement of the community, NGOs and employees of the Elko Tim company. We will continue to give support to this and other similar projects in the future.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Our approach is based on good preparation and needs assessment. We have merged the company with resources, knowledge and skills. CSO with innovative ideas, credibility, power for community mobilization. Interested citizens and volunteers. And, on the end, new methodology! Knowledge that has enabled us to unite all parts and turn the idea into reality.

About the Co-Creation
Barriers: What main barriers may you have encountered to co-create during the creation and implementation of the project and how did you try to overcome them?

Actually, when we thing about barriers we didn’t had it. We were frightened of low turnout of citizens. From the beginning of the action we had full support of all stakeholders in the community. Idea was amazing, all citizens was really surprised because they dreams come true. We had full support all actors in the local community. Our only barrier was weather conditions (it was 42 Celsius Degrees). We learned our lessons

Governance: What is the type of the relationship between the partners? (e.g. joint venture, contractual relationship, joint project...)

ADP-Zid and Elko Tim have really long history of cooperation, our roles were equally important. Elko Tim provided funds and machinery for the implementation of the action. ADP-Zid first did need assessment analyse in this local community; provide Youth Exchange with 50 participants from different EU countries what’s action seemed much attractive because had an international character, also mobilized the community and so on. Result is running track and playground for citizens.

Interaction model: How is the project a transformative partnership? How is the interaction transforming the partnering organizations and their employees/ leadership in terms of creating a new vision, new management practices, new skills and new organizational structures? Please provide for concrete examples

The companies and CSO’s has different structure at first glance. Differences are evident number of employees, procedures, responsibilities, innovative, creativity as well as results. The best example of success of our partnership is sports day, which Elko Tim organized for employees and partners, for years. After this action they gave opportunity to employees to be engage in preparation and implementation of sports day on the own way and on position to respond. So, the process of organization and realization flowed much easier because the employees hired in positions that were interesting but not assigned. The result is a growing number of participants, increased number of activity, sports day for children, and so on.
