Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

The project is directed on introduction of highly profitable small farms in the Russian villages. It has to motivate people to live in villages and to promote a sustainable development of rural territories

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Territories of the Russian villages become empty now. Young people, without seeing prospect, leave villages. The remained adults provide the income and a life by means of personal subsidiary farm. Such activity – is based on the old low-productive technologies which aren't giving the stable income to inhabitants and doesn't promote a sustainable development of rural territories. The reason for that – lack of an example of the modern farm

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We will train 50 people in the Arkhangelsk region who want to be modern farmers. We will organize for them training in bases of maintaining the successful modern modernized farm – technologies, marketing, logistics, etc. and further to accompany their activity. We also plan to organize receiving practical experience in small farms of Norway. We consider as the most important creation of the technological project of a small dairy farm which doesn't exist in Russia, and then its construction. Such working model of a farm becomes a model of maintaining a successful farm, and will motivate people to live and work in villages.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

For the last 1.5 years we carry out a number of seminars among inhabitants of villages and the cities. Goal - Acquaintance of listeners to successful experience of farms in other countries and motivation them to introduce this experience in our territory. As a result in our region 3 enterprises for cultivation of wild berries which already began the activity – acquisition of a plant material and nursery creation were created.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

In our region there are support programs which aren't effective – they are directed on support of the people conducting low-productive traditional personal subsidiary farm. We want to offer people alternative, to acquaint them with such small farms which will give to people high and stable the income, and also will provide ecological products

Your Solution
Founding Story: Share a story about the “Aha!” moment that led you to get started and/or to see the potential for this to succeed.

Our organization has long-term experience in rural territories. On one of conferences we got acquainted with experience of a sustainable development of rural territories of countries of Northern Europe. Having got acquainted with statistics of efficiency of farming, we understood that in Norway and other countries of Europe people work 25 times more effectively, than we in the Arkhangelsk region. Having studied the reasons we found out that high efficiency and stability of agriculture is reached thanks to modern technological small farms. On one of meetings our organization, we came to a conclusion that introduction of such small farms in our territory will be able to solve an available problem.

Measurable Impact
Audience: Who have you identified as your customers/recipients and why? How will you get your solution to them or engage them in your initiative?

Adult population of our region - inhabitants of rural territories and citizens who want to become farmers. Attraction to the project through informing on it, public presentations. Selection of participants – 50 people on a competitive basis.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date and expected impact in the future?

We studied a situation in villages of our region. Today in villages there are two groups of people: one – in agriculture uses wage labor and don't take personal labor part and isn't interested in our offers, the second – independently works for herself and is very interested in introduction of new forms of high-performance farmer business. We expect that the selected participants – 50 people – will create small family farms, will unite in association. The built first small dairy farm will motivate the population to introduce new technological high-performance farms.
