As you read this a patient mayy be critically ill. Whether he lives or dies depends on whether a unit of blood of the right type is available. India is always facing a shortage of blood. People have to run from pillar to post for a unit of blood in their own city or some other city where they go for treatment. At times a patient dies for want of blood. There are unscrupolous elements who sell blood for money.www.indianblooddonors.com is a SMS , IVRS and Mobile App (Android and Windows) based platform which connects needy patients with Blood Donors all over the country. The services of the helpline , blood donors is free. We have 55,000 blood donors registered and new donors sign up everyday. About 53,000 request for blood have been served in the last 3 years.

www.Indianblooddonors.com is a SMS , IVRS and Mobile App based helpline which helps patients who need Voluntary Blood Donors in an Emergency.

Our Primary Audience are Voluntary Blood Donors and Patients who need voluntary blood donors.

How do your products/services benefit this population?

Our SMS, IVRS, Mobile App based helpline help patients who need blood donors in their own city or when they go to another city for treatment and want blood donors and have nobody that can help them in that city.

Nobody should die for want of blood in India. We are using IVRS , SMS and Mobile App to connect needy patients with Voluntory Blood Donors Registered with us in our database.

Impact: What has been the impact of your solution to date?

We started of in the year 2000. We have kept statistics since 2009. We have connected about 55000 blood donors with patients since 2009. We have about 53000 blood donors registered and everyday about 5-10 new donors sign up.

Yes. We have partnered with companies like www.awaaz.de , www.innoz.com , www.net4.in , www.saltriver.com and Microsoft who have provided their service to help build our SMS, IVRS and Mobile Apps. We need to develop 2 app on Iphone and Blackberry.

Why did you select this specific project type?

We have been using Facebook Communities to motivate people to donate blood in times of crisis and when a lot of blood is required. We just do a single broadcast and it spreads.

What challenges are you facing with your social media outreach strategy?

We have our own Facebook Page www.facebook.com\indianblooddonors and www.facebook.com\plateletdonors (www.plateletdonors.org ) but they dont seem to grow at a brisk pace.

Motive more people to donate blood and platelets. Our initiative www.plateletdonors.org is spread over 3 countries (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal) we want to reach potential donors in those countries through Social Media.
