About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

This project aims at the elimination of bullying. Social isolation can start early in a person’s life. According to recent research data, incidents of school violence and bullying may provoke the isolation of children-victims but also lead to the emergence of poor performance and psychosocial disorders. Cases of bullying are more likely to occur to socially awkward students, and children with Special Education Needs seem to be at highest risk to be bullied. The latter situation is particularly worrisome for a number of reasons. Research studies have advocated that children with difficulties who are bullied should receive immediate specialized support otherwise their difficulties may be exaggerated in the ensuing years.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Through this project, I aim to form a community of partnership in schools, universities and the community to help towards the elimination of bulling and school violence. Actions to be implemented are mentioned below: Conferences for the infromation of society are going to be held Construction of a website which will promote school and social inclusion. Information of schools of Heraklion on the issue of bullying Actions at school and social level such as art based activities and environmental actions. The purpose is the collaboration and the inclusion of children with and without Special Educational Needs in the social context.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

If children realize the importance of difference and respecting each other (by interactive actions which are going to be take place at the intervention level) they will adopt this specific point of view and pass it forward to their peers, families and the whole society. Also, the information and the sensitization of the society is going to to help us make a huge step towards the elimination of school bullying.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

This project is going to take place in Heraklion. A lot of other undergraduate students are very willing to help me into doing something relevant to this at Chania as well. I am going to be the coordinator so the most of the actions are going to take place in Heraklion. The strategies are the following- website and information of society, posters and leaflets about the website and our actions are going to be distributed at schools. University is going to be informed about this actions so everyone intersted to participate as volunteer contact with as since the website is going to have a communication platform.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Most of the solution about bulling aim to the information part . Through this project I aim to focus on intervention as well. So, students will actively get engaged and realize the importance of interacting and respecting the others.

Sustainability Plan: Has your project already reached financial sustainability? If not, what is this solutio’s plan to ensure financial sustainability? Do the main partners have enough stake to sustain the solution? If this project requires limited budget, how will other resources be secured to maintain or grow this work?

It requires limited budget and it can be funded by schools association of parents, book stores and etc. It has a prospect of sustainability because the actions which are going to take place will be a nice model, a nice practice for every other school which wants to carry on a familiar project. The actions are going to be uploaded at the website so everyone will have the chance to know about it. We will also rely on the volunteer's action to help us carry on the project.

Team
