About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

PARO-CI addresses the waste issue in Côte d'Ivoire.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We setted up a system to collect the waste from households and public places, sorting them out and recycling artisanally solid waste into artwork and organic waste into fermenter. This helps prevent waste pollution, but also permits to create some new values.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

As an example, the project has contributed to collecting and recycling more than 25000kg of electronics, picking up about 3000kg of household waste from houses per day We created more than 100 artworks with solid waste and made 17 000 kg of fermenter with organic waste.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

Social impact: We improve the living conditions of people within our community. We also create some job opportunities for the youth in waste management activities. Environment: We prevent pollution and sickness proliferation and encure a good environment where it feels good to live. Economy: We create income gerating activities to keep the good job going and pay the employees.. In the furure, we really want ton increase these impacts when expanding the project.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We intend to set up a very dynamic system of waste management with some representation in every city of the country. by 5 years, we are planning to build a real waste management and recycling business with a strong potential to manage 1/3 of the global production of waste nationwide. We also want to have More than 500 young people employed to do the job. Ina word, we intend to be a business model, a success story in waste management domain in Côte d'Ivoire.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

We develop some waste - made products ( recycled art, fermenter, electronic panel, etc) that we sell to make money for the organization. Some houses also pay a small amount of money to us for picking up the trash from their place. We also go for competitions and small grants THese are the major ways we plan the financial sustainability of the project.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

We are pionner in our domain and at leadership position. We do not suffer from any tough concurrence.

Founding Story

In 2010 as a youth leader I attended to a US Sponsored Program called Study of the US Institute on Youth Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship in Uconn. Ashoka gave the training on social entrepreneurship and how thre youth can be changemaker in their community as they are a powerful potential. This ignited in me the flame to get something done for my community. When back home I started my venture and Have been fully devoted to it until now.

How does your idea help young people create bright futures and improve opportunities for meaningful and long-term careers?

We improve the living conditions of people in our community and in so doing create new opportunities for the youth we are. We just ourselves in hand and help ourselves through improving our community. In fact we setted up a sound waste management system and employ the youth in organizinf activities such as collecting the waste, sorting the waste and recycling the waste ( both solid waste and electrnocis) into new resources. We build a green economy, create some job opprtunities for ourselves and protect the environment . Almost 25 young people work today in our project. Our approach to advance the youth when dealing with the employment situation is to set up a dynamic paradigm connecting the sustainable development's points which are improving the youth and the community social situation, protecting the environement and developing a green economy to ensure the sustainability of our project.

Many Thanks, my dear Magarette CCamara

It is a very good project and I congratulates its leaders. It provides jobs to actual 25 people and It may grow further if they find financial support. It has an unique effective approach of recycling in a sens they also take electronics on account. The social impact will grow bigger if the environment is in need of these cleaners. With: "developing a strategy of re-investment of the ROI we are making untill we have enough financial resources to go the next step on our project" it shows us the sustainability of the project.
Good luck
