Rent an artist is an innovative program establishing non-sponsorship relations between artists and business. Artists learn how to be more enterprising and managers learn a new kind of creativity to improve their efficiency. The program strongly engages employees, increasing identification with the company. Providing the knowledge of contemporary art and increase interpersonal competence, stimulates searching for hidden creative talents.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

In Poland, business not invests in art, does not accept the role of patron. The creation is not considered as work. Hence the conviction that for art does not have to pay, because it is not a product. The level of piracy is very high. The low level of art education raises the perception that high art is not needed, that is out of touch with life, created for the selected, that it is better to buy a new television set than the painting or sculpture. A similar way of thinking presents the general public considering art as a whim. Talented people can not devote himself to the art, but they must work in unsatisfactory work. By this much talent is wasted. Artists can not promote and sell your art. They consider it to be unworthy of the artist.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution is to show the business and employees, that art is as hard work as their. That gives people the experience for which is worth to pay. In order to achieve it, the company employs an artist for a month. People are watching his/her work, talk with him/her, exchange experiences, learn a different kind of creativity, teaching the artist mechanisms of business and promotion. The artist learns to talk about his art, promote it, becoming more entrepreneurial. Daily interactions are a living lesson of art and business, change the perception of art among the crew. People appreciate the value of art, they understand that piracy is theft. And are more willing to pay for art, which gives artists profit.
Impact: How does it Work

During the project, the APP (www.app.com.pl) staff found, that the creation is a work as hard and challenging as their own. They learned about the creative process, contemporary art, and explore the artistic talents while working with pieces of art created by the artist. Some of them became regular spectators at cultural events. APP appreciated the benefits of project and changed his approach to participate in community life. Company has began to support local theatre and volleyball team. The sculptures are rent to other artistic and social events like Idealna Września - civic participation activities, highlighted nomination for Super Samorząd 2013. Prize under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Extending the program to 8-10 editions per year in different Polish cities, the number of people who come across it directly and indirectly with the problem of the exclusion of professional artists will increase to several hundred businessmen and a few thousand workers per year. Ultimately, we want to trigger a reflection on the lack of any system of support gifted people and problem of escaping artists to other areas of business, where they are wasting their talent. We want to call the social discussion on creative industries and as a result rising the art lobby that will opt for change a low about cooperative for the benefit of small cooperatives. The project due to the simplicity of the mechanics can be easily duplicated, which will intensify the spreading of its objectives and establish a new, non-financial relationship between art and business.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There is a group of organizations like the Business Centre Club, Art &Business, etc. which promote the investment in art. They doit, however, with traditional methods of proposing investments in proven artists at auction, in galleries, etc. Promote almost exclusively painting and photography, forgetting completely about other types of art. Organizations promoting CSR does not focus on building image through the art or patronage. Rent an artist uses a unique method, which was developed with the project. As the only program also increases entrepreneurship among artists, shows through experience the benefits of investing in art and artist, combines the value of education, investment in human resources, corporate image, CSR and the new forms of patronage.

Team

The strongly motivated team with art and social passion will ensure the success. Top management of the company will provide marketing support, business aspects of the venture, provide business contacts, while the management of the foundation is going to care about the social impact of the project, will ensure that the project does not become the next business venture without social side, will take care about artistic quality, contact with the artists and the communication side of program. In time of growth phase the company will provide support for a staff, will provide the volunteers and, where needed, will cover the labor costs.
