About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

In Poland, business not invests in art, does not accept the role of patron. The creation is not considered as work. Hence the conviction that for art does not have to pay, because it is not a product. The level of piracy is very high. The low level of art education raises the perception that high art is not needed, that is out of touch with life, created for the selected, that it is better to buy a new television set than the painting or sculpture. A similar way of thinking presents the general public considering art as a whim. Talented people can not devote himself to the art, but they must work in unsatisfactory work. By this much talent is wasted. Artists can not promote and sell your art. They consider it to be unworthy of the artist.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution is to show the business and employees, that art is as hard work as their. That gives people the experience for which is worth to pay. In order to achieve it, the company employs an artist for a month. People are watching his/her work, talk with him/her, exchange experiences, learn a different kind of creativity, teaching the artist mechanisms of business and promotion. The artist learns to talk about his art, promote it, becoming more entrepreneurial. Daily interactions are a living lesson of art and business, change the perception of art among the crew. People appreciate the value of art, they understand that piracy is theft. And are more willing to pay for art, which gives artists profit.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

During the project, the APP ( staff found, that the creation is a work as hard and challenging as their own. They learned about the creative process, contemporary art, and explore the artistic talents while working with pieces of art created by the artist. Some of them became regular spectators at cultural events. APP appreciated the benefits of project and changed his approach to participate in community life. Company has began to support local theatre and volleyball team. The sculptures are rent to other artistic and social events like Idealna Września - civic participation activities, highlighted nomination for Super Samorząd 2013. Prize under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Extending the program to 8-10 editions per year in different Polish cities, the number of people who come across it directly and indirectly with the problem of the exclusion of professional artists will increase to several hundred businessmen and a few thousand workers per year. Ultimately, we want to trigger a reflection on the lack of any system of support gifted people and problem of escaping artists to other areas of business, where they are wasting their talent. We want to call the social discussion on creative industries and as a result rising the art lobby that will opt for change a low about cooperative for the benefit of small cooperatives. The project due to the simplicity of the mechanics can be easily duplicated, which will intensify the spreading of its objectives and establish a new, non-financial relationship between art and business.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There is a group of organizations like the Business Centre Club, Art &Business, etc. which promote the investment in art. They doit, however, with traditional methods of proposing investments in proven artists at auction, in galleries, etc. Promote almost exclusively painting and photography, forgetting completely about other types of art. Organizations promoting CSR does not focus on building image through the art or patronage. Rent an artist uses a unique method, which was developed with the project. As the only program also increases entrepreneurship among artists, shows through experience the benefits of investing in art and artist, combines the value of education, investment in human resources, corporate image, CSR and the new forms of patronage.

The strongly motivated team with art and social passion will ensure the success. Top management of the company will provide marketing support, business aspects of the venture, provide business contacts, while the management of the foundation is going to care about the social impact of the project, will ensure that the project does not become the next business venture without social side, will take care about artistic quality, contact with the artists and the communication side of program. In time of growth phase the company will provide support for a staff, will provide the volunteers and, where needed, will cover the labor costs.

Funding: How is your project financial supported? [select all that apply]

Sustainability Plan: Has your project already reached financial sustainability? If not, what is this solutio’s plan to ensure financial sustainability? Do the main partners have enough stake to sustain the solution? If this project requires limited budget, how will other resources be secured to maintain or grow this work?

Program haven't reached sustainability yet. The program itself is relatively inexpensive, requires support for a maximum of two people, it is now the founder and person designated by Metalmex as an employee voluntary for promotion. The total financial independence program reaches at level of minimum four editions a year. The biggest challenge is to organize promotional and educational campaign. The funds will come partly from the Metalmex. In presence efforts concentrate to obtain funds from other sources, for example business organizations like Greater Poland Quality Institute, which organized the science conference, where was presented the idea of the program, published the catalogue of exhibition, etc.

Founding Story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the Partners to get started and/or to see the potential for this to succeed.

During a scientific conference, where Piotr Michalak presented the impact of the first edition of the project, he mentioned that he would like to replace a one-time project in the cyclical program, which will promote entrepreneurship among artists, teach the understanding of contemporary art entrepreneurs, managers and employees, establish a new, non-financial ways to support art by business, promoted the idea of the CSR, engaged companies in the life of local communities. There was Violetta Kowalczyk who appreciated the potential of the idea and decided to involve. She noticed, that plan for 6-10 editions a year is too ambitious for a single person, therefore, proposed to support the project for resources and contacts. Cooperation started in March, along with the start of an online gallery of art by Metalmex.

About the Co-Creation
Barriers: What main barriers may you have encountered to co-create during the creation and implementation of the project and how did you try to overcome them?

The main barrier is a reluctance to invest in art by businessmen. We are planning educational campaign based on a case studies showing the benefits for corporate image and their financial impact from supporting art. Another obstacle is fear of work disorganized when the artist will appear in the company. Here we will try to convince the governing by the example APP, who also had this fear, but the presence of sculptor was strongly motivating to the crew. To break the fear of fruitless spending money for the artist, we will show the benefits of socially responsible business policy, low-cost changes in the PR, the benefits of involvement in the life of the local community and the benefits flowing from the prestigious artistic event, not just on the outside, but also among the crew, whose loyalty, commitment and identification with the company greatly increased in the case of the APP.

Governance: What is the type of the relationship between the partners? (e.g. joint venture, contractual relationship, joint project...)

For now, cooperation is informal, the company provides an employee who is engaged in the voluntary promotion of the project, the owner of the project remains all the time, Piotr Michalak. At the time of the achievement of the plan, which is 8 editions a year and continued growing interest of companies, it is possible to establish the join venture to further increase the range of the project, create the team to organize and promote the program.

Interaction model: How is the project a transformative partnership? How is the interaction transforming the partnering organizations and their employees/ leadership in terms of creating a new vision, new management practices, new skills and new organizational structures? Please provide for concrete examples

project just started and for now will not transform our partnership. For now is hard to say how it will be in the future, especially, projecy could change companies where he is located, and Metalmex is th ecompany which help to expand the project, not participate as a company inviting artist. APP, where the first edition took place turned into more social responsibility company, it commit in th elife of local community, support some local initiatives, especially cultural and sportis.
