The aim of the project is to help health impaired people to orientate in the real world; get to find and know themselves, become mentally balanced due to the social and occupational incorporation. Project offers people with disabilities counselling, education and support to return back to work or/and increase quality of life. Key issue is a comprehensive social and working rehabilitation, and all that already during medical rehabilition.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The project is trying to solve situation of people, who have experienced an accident or serious illness. While the road accident is a matter of moment, the consequent treatment and rehabilitation takes number of months or years. Many clients are for ever confined on the wheelchair or their working capabilities are fundamentally restricted. While the health care is usually high quality, the care which can lead to the employment or increasing of quality of life is absent or insufficient. For our clients is very difficult to gain proper and complex information even about basic matters, the more information about possible career path. Important is time, a key factor for success, all these services we provide already during med. rehabilitation.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Our solution offers for health impaired clients: Diagnostics (use of psychometric methods and others) – Career guidance (Competence management, etc.) – Counselling in social matters (claims to different kinds of benefits, etc) - Education (Training) - Employment (work assistance). We start to work with clients already during their rehabilitation, i.e. in rehabilitation institute. The idea of the project has arisen from experience of employees of Rehabilitation institute, who due to their personal talks with patients considered for necessary to complete medical rehabilitation with social and employment diagnostics, motivation, psychology counselling, cooperation with companies, retraining and also support by the start of the employment.
Impact: How does it Work

Clients are included into the project for example during their medical checks, seminars, courses, sports, information and culture events organized by the rehabilitation institute. After initial diagnostics is offered to the client career counselling and suitable training. HR specialist is focused on current health condition, suitability of possible retraining and connection with to eligible employer. She assist also at interviews and at employment start. I everything goes well, after client returns from his rehabilitation back home, he can immediatly start to work. If he would not got this service during rehabilitation, his way „back to into the life“ will be much more difficult, and most likely in many cases not succesful.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

For the future is our main goal to set multi-source financial support for all our activities, to extend innovative work rehabilitation into the other rehabilitation institutions, to intensify cooperation with employers due to informative seminars with the topic of impaired people employment, to extend the project in the way to support of another target groups, for example staff of the traumatogenic units or family members, they care about impaired person. In cooperation with our founder Centrum andragogiky we will further more use our experience and continue in our effort to contribute to the improvement of comprehensive rehabilitation process on national level, we are regularly asked by the Ministry of labour and social affairs to make comments to projects related to the care of health impaired people. There is still much to do in the field of comprehensive rehabilitation.
Sustainability

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are some non-profit organizations providing similar services. But there is always question about quality and complexity of the servis. Concerning the complexity, most of the organizations provide only a specific support, like some particular traininigs, for example PC courses, but these courses prevailingly don´t meet indiviual clients needs, so there is missing the initial phase – i.e. diagnostics and counselling, above all career counselling. And most of the time is also missing the Employment phase, because there are no good relationships with employers. Our significant advantage is - thanks to our founder - that we have high quality know-how in diagnostics and counselling methods and deep relationships with employers. And what is uniqe on our solution, contrary to other organizations, is that we are working directly in the rehabilitation institute rehabilitation (time factor).

This solution makes a big difference in the care of health impaired people, such a comprehensive type service doesn´t exist, all informations are very fragmented and hardly accesible.

Sustainability Plan: Has your project already reached financial sustainability? If not, what is this solutio’s plan to ensure financial sustainability? Do the main partners have enough stake to sustain the solution? If this project requires limited budget, how will other resources be secured to maintain or grow this work?

At the moment the project is not fully sustainable and we are not able at the moment to provide full range of services. For the future is our main goal to set multi-sources financial support for all our activities - i.e. privat sources (like insurance companies and others), EU fundings, sources of companies they would to employ health impared people, sources from regional government and so on. Founder of the NGO - Centrum andragogiky is further going to secure all organizational matters, marketing, PR, conferences, i.e. all neccesary support for principal function of the NGO. Centrum andragogiky will also onward contribute with it´s know-how in adults education, management and business development.

Founding Story: Share a story about the "Aha!" moment that led the Partners to get started and/or to see the potential for this to succeed.

An idea to found and NGO came at that time when Centrum andragogiky was organizing a lot of events connected to the topic Corporate Social Responsibility. The owner of the company Mrs. Marie Jiru and her colleagues arised the question how CA contributes, is CA a social responsible company ? The key decision was about the vision and mission of the NGO, CA didn´t want only to put somewhere some amount of money, they wanted be an essentials part of the NGO activities. And because the best what the people in CA can do is an education, the vision and also the name of the company was quite clear „Chance for education“. A target group was defined – socialy and health disadvantages people, people they can not afford or are not able to ensure an education or job for themselves, or just to help themselves be more selfsufficient, to have some better quality of life.

About the Co-Creation
Barriers: What main barriers may you have encountered to co-create during the creation and implementation of the project and how did you try to overcome them?

The barriers occur both on the side of health impaired people and also on the side of employers. Health impaired people do not have complex and proper services so they are not prepared to talk to employers. And although there are employers they would like to employ health impaired people, they don´t know how to communicate with them. On the side of employers we use close contacts a relationships of Centrum andragogiky with companies - employers. Thanks to that is possible to well promote all the issue and so far quite succesfully, some of the clients of CA employed some clients of Sance na vzdelani. So generally we try to overcome barriers due to education, trainings, worskhops, conferences, etc. So we use every possibility to assist, both health impaired people and the employers. And if possible to comment some programms and projects on national level (Ministries, etc.)

Governance: What is the type of the relationship between the partners? (e.g. joint venture, contractual relationship, joint project...)

Type of relationship is a joint project. Centrum andragogiky is the founder of an NGO Sance na vzdelani. So the relationship is very close and there is a high motivation on both side to go on with the project.

Interaction model: How is the project a transformative partnership? How is the interaction transforming the partnering organizations and their employees/ leadership in terms of creating a new vision, new management practices, new skills and new organizational structures? Please provide for concrete examples

The influence (and) transformation is mutual. Employees on the side of Centrum andragogiky getting new experience - working for and with health impaired people. And experience with non profit sector. The experience for everybody who meet people with disabilities is finally very enriching. Also companies they employ people with disabilities confirm – it has huge effect on their environment – in a very positive way, priorities and values of people are changing… So people in Centrum andragogiky are learning very much and also people from NGO Sance na vzdelani are learning a lot from employees in CA – organization skills, marketing, more about adults education, new methods and so on. For CA it also means contribution in reinforcing of goodwill, differentiation on the market, environment change, new products, market extension so finally positive economic effects.
