About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

This Project has two key goals, first to provide empowerment opportunities/income for youth from socially, economically and politically marginalized groups between ages 18-25 years and second, to deal with the problem of improper waste disposal and environmental protection. In order words, the project aimed to clean up the community by means of proper waste control methods and prevent diseases/germs from spreading.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

So far, I have significantly addressed idleness among the youth within the target communities, through this project and other projects implemented and ones still ongoing. I have provided full-time jobs for 10 youths and part-time for 15 (who are recruited on a rotational basis) for the collection of garbage from homes and small businesses and removal of bad log -garbage piled up at unauthorized places in the communities. Youth are now able to provide support to the income of their households, and afford to provide their basic social and educational needs. Also, the target communities environmental and health conditions has significantly improved over the times; households and small business in target communities learned to control waste.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Collecting garbage from more than 100 households and small businesses and provided jobs for over 35 full-time and part-time youths from socially, economically and politically marginalized groups aged 18-25 years.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

In the next five years, I foresee continuous employment opportunities and growth as well as expansion in the project. Specifically, to provide at least between10-50 full-time jobs; extend to 400-1500 homes and small businesses in 10 communities within the Municipality.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

In the future , I foresee continuous employment opportunities and a guaranteed salary and other benefits including medical, education and transportation allowances for employees and youth volunteers. To provide 10-50 full-time jobs; extend to 400-1500 homes and small businesses;funds generated portion will be reinvested to establishing a scholarship foundation as component of the initiative to benefit less fortunate children and youth to acquire human development skills. There will also be opportunities for the start-up of micro-enterprises in waste collection and setting up of community based

My major challenge will be with my competitors including LIBRA sanitation, Inc., Paynesville Waste Enterprise (PAWE), NC Sanitor, and other groups operating illegally within the municipality that are financially position to acquire modern equipment and pay staff better compensation and fringe benefits. Its primary goal is to empower youth from socially, economically and politically marginalized groups between the ages 18-25 years and to improve the health and environmental condition of communities and their residents; as well as intended to improve on my existing local scholarship program to a Scholarship Foundation to better position me to empower more children and youths in Liberia. It has reduced idleness among the youth, and it is a youth initiative that is managed and run by the youth themselves leading to them learning new skills and serving as another alternative mean to make a living and not waiting on Government.
