Aim to create awareness on the importance of the Agriculture sector for youth self empowerment, provide agriculture vocational skills in poultry farming,seed and vegetable farming to young people living in the Street, ex-combatants, young female involving in sell sex; to become self sustainable and also help in re-uniting them with their family.
It also give the young people the opportunities to meet will government, donors, private sectors and the communities leaders to discuss the issues of support for youth in Agriculture through its Young Farmers Forum

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The project are being implementing in Monrovia - Montserrado, Buchanan -Grand Bassa, Kakata - Margibi County with in local communities, young people living in these communities are low income people, most of them are jobless, and with less income generation skills. In these communities; they have superintendent which is the government head for these communities, follow by commissioner, Town Chief and the community Leader which is the direct person we work with. They live through the rule of Laws and culture values. With in the communities they have the county, claim, and town. CYNP have been engage in communities development activities for the pass four years with young people in these local communities, we was able to trained 500 young people in sustainable agriculture activities. Working in these communities have been very interesting and encouraging for the high interest show by youth and the other communities member to be develop. One most important issue that we notice was, the female that were engage actually regretted their involvement in sale sex, most of them said that if they had had this new opportunities before, they would not have involved in such act. CYNP is now planning to engage more young people to be developed as entrepreneurs.

The project Give young people a new method of being independent, not to depend on others for their growth and development, it provide culture exchange opportunities among youth. the project help address the problem of youth development by giving young people the chance to meet with those stake- holders which include the government, private sectors, communities leaders, and donors to discuss and find support for their development.

a. Training of youth in constriction of poultry House,seed and vegetable farming up to production, maintenance of farms ,market studies, sells and establishment of smaller farm for youth in the local communities. b. Creating awareness on the importance of the agriculture sector for young people self empowerment in local communities and con selling on how to become a useful person in your communities and society c. Monthly young farmers network forum meeting with stake- holders.

Share the story of the founder and what inspired the founder to start this project

I am Junior Toe a Liberian, a youth leader, 27 years of ages, working as a volunteer social worker, entrepreneur and human right advocate; I have six years of working experience in these fields from 2004 up to present.
One of the five top finalists for ONE AFRICA AWARD 2010.
Country Award winner of EDUCATING AFRICA Pan-African Awards for
My interest in helping to develop youth to become the best future leaders and creating opportunities for all youth to become useful in their communities, for them not to be used by bad people for violence.
with this in mind, I was able to created this project to engage the young people to become more productive.

Social Impact
Please describe how your project has been successful and how that success is measured

a. 200 young people had been trained in vocational agriculture skills, created Five (5) small farms in Monrovia, Grand Bassa, Margibi County and resettle youth with their family from 2007 up to present.

b. One Young farmer’s network created, where youth led farming activities and youth agro-business groups can network on issue about Youth and Agriculture by 2013.

c. Producing Information, Education, and Communication materials to educate youth in Monrovia, Grand Bassa, Margibi County to create high interested in the Agriculture sector of Liberia from 2010 up to present.

d. Advocating for More youth Agriculture educational scheme from 2011up to the next five (5) years.

e.The project engage young people to contribute in helping to reduce food insecurity in local communities, by providing food for their local communities members since 2007 up to present.

How will your project evolve over the next three years?

We are intending to train up to more young people, and created more youth farm in Liberia, we hope to have the youth as the higher produces of food in Liberia in the next three years.also network with major stake- holders for more support for youth in Agriculture. we also which to have more young people in the agriculture sector for their employment.

What barriers might hinder the success of your project and how do you plan to overcome them?

The availabilities of Land for young people to continue the project activities in their communities, we will work will the local government and the communities leaders to help us locate lands for the young people to use in the future.

The provision of assessable tools for the trainees, we create other partnership with government and donors for tools.

The wiliness of youth to create interest in the field and be able to take care of tools and start- up packages, CYNP will provide a mentor to work with trainers to guard them in their implementation.

Young people who are not selected may be upset. We will contract other youth in the implementation to save as sale persons and also encourage them to be a part of the trainees own communities project.

Young farmers may drop out of the programme; we create a monthly follow-up meeting on youth progress.

Tell us about your partnerships

We had collaborated activities with Schools, Community Youth Organizations and Local Communities Leaders. The groups help us identify young people to participate in our activities , they also help us by providing lands for our projects and service as communities monitors to our projects.

Explain your selections

I believe and known that this project worth to be selected, because we are trying to create opportunities for those effected youth in our local communities engaging them to become useful citizen and also developing a new group of young entrepreneurs that will take over as future leaders.

How do you plan to strengthen your project in the next three years?

The Trainees will continue the project activities with in their local communities by training other youth through their small project establish by CYNP after the training, they will also be monitor by CYNP.
Lobby with our government and the private sector for support and partnership, and also access the National youth policies document to see what government allocated for youth in Agriculture sector, to be able to apply for support.
The project creates income from products produce, sold and these funds are used for the start up packages for the trainees.
The project staff will be given additional training in the management of the project, for them to be able to create new creative ideas for the sustainability.
