What was the defining moment that led you to this innovation?
1. I was worried that a lot of students complain that Mathematics and Science are difficult subjects.
2. In Ghana, many students fail Mathematics and Science at the Basic Education Certificate Examination and senior Secondary Certificate examination levels.
3. We don't have Computer Based Learning materials based on the Ghana Education service approved syllabus.
Tell us about the social innovator behind this idea.
Justice K. B. Annan majored in Mathematics Education and minored in Science Education and ICT at the University Of Education, Winneba-Ghana and is a former tutor of Mathematics and ICT at St. Margaret Mary Senior High School-Dansoman. He is an Educator, a computer Technician and an Educational Software Application developer. Most private Junior High Schools in Accra are currently using one or more of the SOFT series- four Educational software he has designed.
He has conducted extensive research into the integration of ICT in the Teaching-Learning process and has practically used ICT to teach both at the Junior High and Senior High School levels. He has trained Teaching staff of a number of Educational institutions to acquire and use ICT in the Teaching-Learning process.
He has given presentations on several ICT topics at various platforms notable amongst them being the WAEC monthly seminars at WAEC Headquarters Conference Room and Technology Transformation seminars at the Kofi Annan Center of Excellence in ICT.
On 17th May 2008, he was awarded the BEST ICT STARTUP PERSONALITY FOR 2007 by the Ministry of Communications in recognition of his contribution towards the development of ICT in the Country.
