Bio:
I am a social entrepreneur living in Nairobi as Founder of Access Afya, an enterprise piloting a model for primary care in urban slums. My experience combines community development, finance, and research. I am passionate about systematic change, and learning how to improve communities from the "mashinani"- the grassroots. I love to wander around cities, take photographs, run, practice yoga, and write about the many fascinating moments that happen each day. I enjoy networking and learning from like communities. I am on the board of Young Women Social Entrepreneurs Nairobi and am looking forward to connecting to other Changemakers through this site.

Healthy Factories increases access to health for vulnerable populations in Nairobi’s informal

settlements: informal, casual laborers. Through an annual membership fee, laborers have access

to curative care, preventative programs and health education targeting the full family. A certified

and trained professional field health team directly at their workplace delivers this program.

Access Afya is creating a chain of ultra-mini-clinics that provide standardized outpatient services targeting the extreme poor. Health technologies support operations and patient communication. This model lowers barriers to good health by bringing care directly to the doorstep of the people who need it the most. The clinic links to existing community networks for outreach and health financing.
