TARGET: Since 2010 and the renewal of our tools and communication strategy, our tools have benefitted to more than 5000 children, with a 80% yearly increase in 4 years. A total of 96 local schools are regular users of our tools. With this new digital tool, we aim at broadening further our audience, to at least 5000 children a year.
DISCOVER NEW PROFESSIONS AND ACQUIRE SELF-CONFIDENCE: Children know at most 20 stereotyped professions: nurse, baker, policeman, fireman… With this tool, children will learn about more than 20 new professions related to health and understand the value and complementarity of all skills.
PROMOTE HEALTH EDUCATION: We consider health in both body AND mind aspects, and we start from kids’ preoccupations instead of impersonal recommendations (an apple a day…). We believe this way children will be more receptive and prompt to care about their health and well-being.

The spreading of “Healthy & happy in school!” will rely on strong public and private partnerships, as we have done for the past 23 years. For now, ou private partners are participating financially and by doing pro-bonos to initiate the project. We are in the process of looking for other financial supports (through public grants and private philanthropy) to close the budget and start creation.
For after the tool is created, we have consolidated partnerships with municipalities -and are still seeking others- who will finance the spreading of the tool towards the schools they administrate. This way, we ensure the spreading of the tool to teachers who will access it for free, in line with our policy.
The idea for “Healthy & happy in school!” came in two times:
- When I spent 3 days with the flu being completely useless at work, I joked about our next tool being about the importance of health… not so useless after all, because our first researches showed us experts establish a strong connection between health and school success: we had our next subject.
- We have been longing for long to expand our actions to benefit to more people. We were limited by the means in our possession. My colleague met a guy who had just launched its business about making digital-based tools, with values such as “social impact”, “solidarity”… all the keywords were there, and they clicked, if I may say so : we were going to make our tool digital !
So far, co-creation is really easy for our team. We chose partners with a good sense of listening and humility so that everyone knows the others have something to offer to the group. Complementary expertises and professional cultures ensure that none is a competitor.
For the future, as we are looking for financial supports, we anticipate that companies will probably hesitate to be associated with "market" competitors. We work at FERS with a code of ethics specifying among other things that we are not doing advertisement for any products : this has always helped convincing private partners to associate to our projects, based only on their convictions and engagements for children success.
The initial team of partners are bound by the same interest in the project.
Contractual relationships are established between FERS (project leader) and partners in case of financial support or gifts in nature. This ensures the users of our tool that all exchanges respect our code of ethics.
Once again, I insist on the complementarity of the professional cultures and expertise of the initial partners.
- It brings us at FERS a new way of designing tools : with the same media, we learn to address different audiences, i.e. children which we are familiar with, but also adults which we had difficulties to address to.
- It brings our partners specialized in health education a new way of addressing the question : health needs to be taken as a whole (physiology & psychology). We bring them a new pedagogy based on children's concerns, not only governmental policies.
- We learn as a group to define better ways to evaluate our project.
- We believe we open-up the companies we approach as potential financial supporters to the concept of co-creation, its strength in the credit it gives a project and its innovative and valuable positive impact on society.
