An Educational development organization empowering today's youth to create a better tomorrow.

About Project

Problème : Quel problème ce projet essaie-t-il d'adresser ?

“Youth marginalization and lack of opportunities” In Algeria, the third of the population is between 15 and 29 years old; a huge but latent potential when we consider the youth’s realities: - The 1/3 of people under 30 are unemployed. - Around 70% of youth are not member of any club or association. - Youth are the first category affected by: violence, crime, substance abuse and illegal immigration (hundreds of them die trying to, every year)… The biggest challenge is moving this category from being part of the problem to being part of the solution.

Solution: Quelle est la solution proposée? S.v.p soyez précis!

Being a developing country, the social and economical issues in Algeria are countless. What is highly needed is to make the young generations see them as challenges and connect them to innovative solutions creating opportunities (for instance: jobs) by youth to youth. Considering that 92% of the Algerian children have access to school, the issue is the quality of the education system that neglects the personal development aspects. The “Multiplier Effect”s mission is to provide a high quality educational program focusing on personal development to the Algerian students in order to inspire, encourage and develop a responsible and a visionary generation of leaders and change agents and start an endless chain reaction generating impact on a large scale (from where comes the “Multiplier Effect” name).
Impact: How does it Work

Exemple : Faites nous découvrir comment cette solution fait la différence en utilisant un ou plusieurs exemples concrets ; en incluant aussi ses activités principales.

In the first year, we will focus on high and middle school students. We will deliver 2 sessions (2-3h/session) per month for each group comprised of 15-20 students. The sessions will focus on three axes: - Global mindset: Inspiring and enlarging the students’ perspectives by introducing them to global issues, entrepreneurship and what is done by their peers in the rest of the world. - Self-building: Giving them the chance to express themselves, gain confidence, and supporting them to define their personal vision and pursue their dreams. - Soft skills: Helping them develop and practice important skills such as leadership, communication, public speaking, and time management. The sessions' mottos are: interactivity, inspiration, practice and fun. We will use games, videos, discussions and make students feel that we are close to them, their realities and perspectives, being young Algerians ourselves. An assessment will be done by the end of the six months with the students and the school staff to evaluate what has been learned, what has to be improved and the impact we got on the short term (students joining NGOs/ initiating clubs, their school performance…)

Marché : Qui d'autre adresse les problèmes mentionnés ici ? Comment ce projet diffère-t-il de ces approches ?

The population affected is: High and middle school students (early and main adopters). Starting from the second year, we will be reaching university students, and youth in general through our events and payable trainings. There is no organization in Algeria working in this field with the same market (students).

Founding Story: What inspired your venture? Why?

Like any other typical Algerian student, when I used to think about the future, I was just picturing a comfortable job and home… until I joined the associative movement at university to discover the meaning of leadership, social responsibility and entrepreneurship, and saw the impact that one can have on others… I realized that people out there limiting themselves to a robotic mindset and life style (college-job-marriage) are not doing that by choice but mostly because they’ve never been introduced to those concepts, although they spent at least 12 years in school. My battle will be for a school model where students find and fusion their passions and aptitudes to live their best lives and work for a better world, a school that inspires.

What do you want to accomplish in your first year?

• Raise at least 2 schools as partners.
• Deliver two six-month programs.
• Engage at least 45 students (15/group; 1 groups in the first six month program, 2groups in the second six month program)
• End the year with a big open event bringing our organization out to the public (a conference)

Impact social
How will your Venture define success in the short term (1-12 months)?

- Successfully delivering our program.
- Satisfaction of our partners and students (+ parents)
- Acting sustainably.
- Satisfying personal experience for the team members that will push them to give even more.
- Inspiring others to join our movement.
- Final successful event that will bring us out to public.

In the long-term (1-3 years)?

- Our impact on the students: the students we engaged became socially active, some would join our organization.
- Finalizing our legal status and getting our office.
- Launching our website.
- Expanding out of schools through our events (universities, professional centers...)
- Delivering payable trainings.
- Being present in national and international events (conferences, fairs…)

How will you measure success?

Number of partners raised (schools***)
Number of sessions delivered/ school
Number of students engaged (in schools, events’ attendees…)
Satisfaction surveys.
Number of partnerships renewed.
Number of the website’s visitors.
On the long-term:
Number of students becoming socially engaged after graduation.

How will you recruit new members for your venture?

- If some old members know a candidate, his/her motivation and commitment and endorse him (or her), we will invite him to join and enroll him/her directly in a trial and training period.
- When our plans need additional human resources, we will open an online application form and collect interesting profiles (preferably people who already have been engaged through our events/ trainings), move to interviews then to a trial and training period.

We won't focus on the applicant's past achievements as we will on his/her motivation and commitment.

How will you appoint new leaders and transfer leadership when the founding members want to leave the team?

When a leader wants to leave, he will be responsible of designing a selection process (competition), along with the other leaders. Because of his experience in his position, he knows what it requires and what the potential challenges that one may face are.

The candidates must have a minimum experience in the organization and be endorsed by some other members.

After the selection, the leaving leader should ensure a transition period in which he works closely with his successor.

How will you continue your project in 6-months time or once you have spent all of its initial capital?

My venture model doesn't require huge expenses especially in the first 6-12 months, which will allow us to work without needing additional funds. We will raise funds for the second year and beyond through:
- Delivering payable trainings out of public schools (training fees).
- Seeking sponsorships from companies after finalizing our legal status.
- Applying for international grants.
- Our partners (schools...) can provide in-kind support.
- Private schools can offer financial support.
- Donations from individuals or organizations.
- On the long term, we want to publish booklets about leadership and personal development.
