Explain in detail why your approach is innovative

1. It's the only directly controlled community managed hotel project in the world.
2. Higher % return on investment than anything else I have seen in business to date, due to the tax exempt status.
3. Employs and educates local people in sustainable tourism ways.
4. Innovative conservation projects.

Impact
Describe the degree of success you have had to date. How do you measure, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the impact on sustainability or enhancement of local culture, environment, heritage, or aesthetics? How has it transformed or contributed to the power of place or demonstrated the sustainability of tourism? How does your approach minimize negative impacts?

We are just starting, but we already have the support of local people and chiefs, local governor and the president close to one of the team, which is huge for the country which is all about who you know. We have already started a local conservation project to help sea turtles and construction of our HQ is almost complete.

In what ways are local residents actively involved in your work, including participation and community input? How has the community responded to or benefited from your approach?

Local people love what we are doing. Education and jobs is what we supply and also about to start small business loans at 0% interest.

How does your program promote traveler enthusiasm, satisfaction, and engagement with the locale?

Local people cook for the travellers, local dances and culture is embraced.

Describe how your work helps travelers and local residents better understand the value of the area's cultural and natural heritage, and educates them on local environmental issues.

Yes it is.

What are the main barriers you encounter in managing, implementing, or replicating your innovation? What barriers keep your program from having greater impact?

Disbelievers thats all, but we just get on and do it.

What is your plan to expand or further develop your approach? Please indicate where/how you would like to grow or enhance your innovation, or have others do so.

Bali is our next location to build.

The Story
What is the origin of your innovation? Tell the Changemakers and media communities what prompted you to start this initiative.

Hotels make huge returns on profits, rarely help the local people. You can see a four seasons in a poor country and the money goes back to London or New York. I wanted to help the local people.

Please provide a personal bio. Note this may be used in Changemakers' marketing material.

I am not known for much, just this project i guess.

Describe some unique tourist experiences that your approach provides. Be specific; give illustrative examples.

You can visit the Yam festival in the Trobrian Islands, which you should look up online... very unique. You can go to Mount Hagen for the Carving festival, which is fantastic.... so colorful or Shark Calling.
