@s6startUP have developed a comprehensive model to provide small-scale, impact entrepreneurs in Nigeria with the business expertise, telling their untold stories and providing links with long-term investment capital they need to transform economies.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

400 million connected, disempowered and jobless youth are considered a threat to the stability of countries and a burden to states. Some of their main challenges are limited jobs -on average 72% of youth in African countries are unemployed - & economic opportunities, lack of access to education, skills and information necessary to empower them to make the right choices. But perhaps we noticed a gap in the media that targets and told the stories

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We are unlocking the potential of small business entrepreneurs in developing countries by providing management know-how and links to financing. In countries like Nigeria, small business entrepreneurs have unparalleled potential to create new jobs and wealth in the formal economy. However, small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in the developing world have, in time past, been constrained by entrepreneurs´ limited business skills and the lack of access to capital.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

S6startUP helps them tell their untold stories via their weekly tweet chat, opening opportunities for funding especially for businesses caught in the “missing middle”– they are too big to receive microcredit and too small to be of interest to traditional venture capitalists or even business incubators. We are using s6startup to demonstrate to donors & future business leaders that, investing in impact entrepreneurs in the developing world is an effective means to fight poverty

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

S6startUP Follows a StartUPasAservice (SAAS) model with a 25million impression by extending its impact to other countries like Kenya, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, Ghana, Morocco, South Africa, etcetera with representation from Enterprise Development Centre and Nigeria Youth Chamber of Commerce. We now hope in the upcoming months to host venture capital funds among our list of clients, which also include mergers & acquisition specialists, product managers, founders and aspiring entrepreneurs

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We plan to adopt the SaaS model of offering our product for use online by leveraging the cloud technologies. This model will enable us to create a multi-tenant platform for micro businesses with minimum of 5 users to businesses with up to 100 users. The advantage of this enables business that are mobile leverage the power of cloud technology. For business larger than 25 users we will provide dedicated cloud solution for them as they scale up. Others are Advertising and Corporate Sponsorship
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

We are different because we use a Sustainability structure deployed by technology to ensure that we can attract and motivate the kind of people that can build a viable and lasting business. For Profit Structure with social impact in mind, we will be able to provide incentives to employees, which will ensure that our interests are aligned with theirs. A Sustainability structure will ensure that management is disciplined and accountable to all.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Thrive cloud, an open source business management solution. Thrive cloud helps business manage their entire operations ranging from managing customers and sales to managing the business financials and employees. It’s a one suite of business applications that is affordable in pricing to small medium and growing business and scalable to established enterprise.

Founding Story

started in 2014 while having a discussion with the Founder of BudgIT about scaling the innovations of the Creative5, BudgIT has been a strong supporter of our brand, we noticed a gap in the media that targets and told the stories of Startups, so we wanted to create media platforms that will do that. There was so much negativity about Founders of Start Up Companies still having side jobs and not staying committed in pursuing their enterprise, and there were other founders doing impressive things, so we came up with ‘a weekly chat’ to report the stories of the Founders. Through S6startUP, we saw an opportunity to take advantage of this gap, and fill it, and tell a new story for entrepreneurs

Leadership and the Unilever Awards
Please provide examples of any previous entrepreneurial initiatives you have pioneered.

My most important innovation is Giving Garage and the lessons learned were hard work & that being consistent pays a lot.
Save Pwashikai Nideno campaign which I achieved in 2012 attracted so much media buzz and funds donated led to the successful
vaginoplasty. In 2013, I was nominated as a universal peace federation ambassador of peace and in 2014, I was nominated as A
World at School Global Youth Ambassador.
Giving Garage metamorphosed from Charity Lounge as an ambitious non-profit platform, servicing as a solution space to assist social
innovators, we add the fun-in-fundraising at our events and also in bringing together mentors to their mentees, in order to empower
them to be great leaders and as sustainable social change agent. We also serve as a platform to reaching out to the under privileges
in the society, by creating avenues for the promotion of charity using technology and adopting social media for social good.
The Giving Garage Project was showcased at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk & Reduction in Sendai-Japan as a
Youth Friendly Environmental Space in its Pilot Stage and as a case example at Shared Value Initiatives conference in New York in
May 2015.
Award: Giving Garage also won the best idea never produced –campaign in the 2015 Summit Creative Award competition with more
than 5000 submissions from 23 countries hosted by the Summit International Awards
