About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Over 230,000 children live today in child poverty in Sweden. They are excluded and have difficulty seeing opportunities & getting the right tools to shape their future. They often lack role models and be difficult to be seen and acknowledged and have low self-esteem & self-confidence. It often leads to difficulties to succeed in primary school,high-school & even later to find a job with is high risk of falling into the destructive circuits.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

All with the aim to strengthen children's future.IUG start working with children early and follow the development for a long time.IUG appears to reduce the risk of exclusion, leading to big gains for both individuals and society.IUG using sport as a tool in that,in cooperation with local associations, introduce recreational activities in PE lessons in school. Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

There are many children who are not capable of swimming skills due to various reasons. It has not had the same opportunities as other children or they may even prejudice, religious reasons, newcomer, etc be what puts obstacles, which usually affects their self-esteem and self-confidence.According to the Swedish curriculum if you can not handle swimming school, you become even fail in Physical Education. Thanks to private sector so IUG have been able to organize several swimming lessons where we save lives and also gives children opportunities to learn to swim. IUG uses the local swim clubs instructors that are in place when the local schools come with their children who need to improve their swim skills. Since 2013 have 246 kids learned to swim.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

IUG has made an expansion plan of how we grow locally, nationally and globally. Clear goals and action plan has been posted. IUG has worked out and proven that IUG should not become dependent on one person , but to find the " local seeds " that will spread IUG and make it grow. The IUG model is based on bringing together stakeholders in society that would not otherwise have had the opportunity to meet – municipality, local associations, schools and teachers – a structure that has a lot of potential to effect society as a whole to become more integrated and dynamic. Make win-win situation!
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

1. Continue to deliver the best impact through IUG. 2. IUG sign long-term agreements with municipalities and partners. 3. IUG establishes "quality acknowledgment" that give strength to the repurchase and more new purchase.IUG create local steering group which gives added value to the IUG and involves partners. 4. IUG has and will continue to work with the major national/global companies and involve their management/partnership within the IUG .

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are several different organizations working in sports and Inclusion in Sweden and beyond. Although there is no one that connects the different stakeholders in society like IUG–creating momentum and using the power of both school, municipality, private sector, teachers, local sports associations etc. IUG has in these years demonstrated a clear effect what happens to children and young people as well as the savings society does. IUGs brand has become stronger and more partners wants to support IUG , which in turn affects the municipalities to take easier decisions and buy IUG service.

Founding Story

1983 born in Bosnia and half the childhood he had experience of war and trauma. 1993 Admir came as a refugee to a segregated residential area in Landskrona,Sweden. Social affinity played their role in Admirs childhood and he began to build dreams from what he saw in the area. The biggest dream was to become a pizza baker. Already as young he was able to see clearly what the problem and solution was in society and began to slowly develop the idea that he strongly believed in (i.e. IUG Sport Without Borders). After many obstacles , setbacks , police escort rings but also courage, compassion, decisiveness-2008 he was awarded the scholarship Compass Rose from Swedish King as best young leader.

Leadership and the Unilever Awards
Please provide examples of any previous entrepreneurial initiatives you have pioneered.

In all my life I have worked with Sports Without Borders and basketball as a tool. I have faced many setbacks, obstacles , jealousy and many no. With the right patience and hard work, I have learned from these setbacks and become wiser and more focused. I have had the opportunity to educate myself and see leadership from several perspectives , which has benefited both my and organization development.

During my trip , I have helped many young leaders find themselves and learn to lead themselves before they can lead others and the organization. Many of my former students are now business managers for IUG in different cities and I grow by seeing others grow.

Beyond your existing team, who else are you working with to achieve your objectives, eg partners, advisors, mentors?
