Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Example/case study We have access to do promotions and place branding in 10 000 schools across South Africa these are all rural and township schools. These schools battle with funding and run for many years with insufficient or no facilities. We proposed a branding opportunity on soccer goals for adidas South Africa. Schools that had no sports facilities now have a new set of soccer goals and 5 new soccer balls. Schools were now able to start their own leagues

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

This creates conducive learning environment if companies such as Unilever could get involved, in less than 5 years all 10 000 schools will be conducive for learning.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Once supported by big corporates we can rollout across many other developing countries across the world.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

The schools receive branding and part of the revenue then goes back to the school in a form of development.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are other media agencies that do this but do not have the reach we have. Other agencies do it on a smaller scale.

Founding Story

As a kid I found it fun to sell things, on his early start in the business world. Growing up in Alberton and Soweto he furthers that he was a very hyperactive school child and so grabbed at every opportunity he got. “I even sold sunglasses to my schoolteachers at a stage, Khethi laughs. I joined the organisation, I was elected as CEO where it became my responsibility to mentor students in ‘how to start a business.’” This was the moment Khethi began to see a gap in the educational market. “I went to school in an upmarket suburb, and I realised that there was so much more that I knew, that my classmates at the business school didn’t,” Khethi . And so he decided to start SchoolMedia
