About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

RAN Power Project will be addressing the little and No power supply in Northern Uganda. We shall be able to provide reliable cheap and sustainable power in the region. Thus increasing lively hood and development in the region.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We shall be providing Hydro Power through our portal Hydro Electric reactor Plants. That can be installed anyway in the region thus making production and provision of power in the region easier. The plants use Air to produce power so it can be installed easily anywhere whether outside or indoors. Thus we can produce power in the remotest of places and change lives.

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

The solution is about being able to produce power and distribute it in the remotest of places in the Northern Region of the country. So with the ablility of our company to do this we shall make it possible for everyone to receive and use power in the country and neighboring countries like South Sudan to receive power. Thus this will bring about development in the region as factories will be able to setup easily in the region providing employment and improving lively good.Plus we are providing Power at about half to less than half what the national grid is selling at so this will drop the cost of products since industries will be spending less in producing their products. This will generally change the Northern region and Uganda at large.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

There is no impact as per now because we have not yet started the project. The future impact is the changing of the entire Northern region which has very little or No Power in most of the places. With these Hydro Electric Reactors that can produce electricity from anywhere as long as there is Air available. These Hydro plants can be installed whether indoors or outdoors plus are in various sizes according to the power needed by the client. So with that kind of frame work we shall be able to provide Power at less than half what the National Grid is Providing and yet have it more accessible and sustainable. This will bring about employment from the factories and companies that setup there plus good will be cheaper since production costs less. This will improve development in the different cities in Northern Uganda plus the growth of the GULU Airport into an international Airport.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

As we provide power from one area to another thus covering the region city by city. This will help us better plan for other areas and cities as the people will be able to embrace it faster since they will be able to see the development already taking place in other cities. With the availability of power in these region we shall see more companies setting up plus schools, hospitals, Entertainment centers and industries this will definitely bring about a noticeable development in the region.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

we shall be selling the power we provide through a distribution company Uganda Rural Electrification Agency. This agency handles the distribution and collecting of revenue from our end point client.we shall then use the money received to then purchase another Hydro Plant and thus keep installing more plants and covering more place in the region.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are other power companies like Butamba Hydro Electricity Company and others like Emerging Power Uganda Limited. The 1st uses Hydro Power through water and like the second i gave produce using solar, the difference with ours is that ours uses air which is not affected by low tides or is restricted to places with water falls and solar which is determined by the intensity and availability of the sun.Our Hydro Power generators can installed anywhere regards of place and since they use Air they are on 365 days a year. Thus providing high reliability, sustainability and reliability for power.

Founding Story

i was working for my an IT company called Xmac Limited when we got some work to do in Adjumani district for UN REFUGEE DESK under the Prime ministers office.when i noticed how almost the area had little or now power in the whole district. All the NGOs and offices are running on generators, there is little development in the area so that's when i thought of how can i be able to provide sustainable power good enough to power industries and yet still keep it cheap enough for everyone in the region to afford. That lead to formation of RAN Power Uganda Limited.
