How many times have we been in search of a good painter, gardener or even a nurse for our mother or children? Well in my case many times, and I usually end up asking on Facebook for recomendations. Well, with Trabajoy.com you won´t need to do that anymore.

WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

What if we can create a REAL link between the people who need a good service with the ones who provide them? generating on its way hundreds of new entrepreneurs who will have training and access to the a world full of opportunities as the internet is?
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

We have seen that in LatinAmerica there´s a huge gap in the communication between the people who provide services such as gardening, cleaning, plumbing, and many others, with people who is looking for them. To decrease that gap providers print flyers, contractors use look for word of mouth recommendations, but none of these are as efficient as the internet. TrabajoY.com is the platform that solves this problem by connecting both parts.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

TRABAJOY.COM is the solution: 1. First of all we verify the background of the people offering their service, making sure their identity is real, their address is correct, and that they don’t have any criminal activities and providing security to people contacting them and contracting them. 2. Considering a big part of the providers might need training in some entrepreneurial, technological and customer service areas, we provide them continuous live and online training. 3. After a costumer has contacted a provided and has used his or her service, he needs to review the profile. Like this, great providers will have higher reviews which could eventually turn them into small businesses.

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

We have been working day and night for about a year posting ads on newspapers in Ecuador, Bogotá and Mexico. We have been in job fairs all over Ecuador as an alternative to those thousands of people who are looking for a job. Unfortunately we cant open up the complete platform yet because we set up the goal of registering at least 10 K services and 100K pre registrations in order to send the invitations city by city in order to allowing users to have a great experience from day one. We have trained already almost 2K people in Internet, costumer service and entrepreneurship because we want the people who offer their services online to grow, providing an excelent experience to the user and step by step becoming small entrepreneurs.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

A lot of media have contacted us for interviews and press releases, however we want to maintain discretion until we have the 10K services uploaded and 100k profiles registered.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

We plan to expand the platform to all latin america, helping millions of people get paid for what they do the best and training them to keep moving forward.
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

We have premium profiles which are directed to higher paid services and we also have ads in the website which increase their value as traffic increases.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are similar platforms in the United States and Europe, and small websites in some countries in Latin America but none has the aproach that we do trying to reach the lowest income market.

Leadership and the Unilever Awards
Please provide examples of any previous entrepreneurial initiatives you have pioneered.

I have founded two other companies previously. Hop On Ecuador was founded in 2009, one year after I graduated from Bond University. I sold it to my cofounder which has a big hotel chain in Ecuador. The other is Campamento CEIBO, which now a day is the leading children leadership program in Ecuador.

Beyond your existing team, who else are you working with to achieve your objectives, eg partners, advisors, mentors?

In the past months we’ve been invited to join several incubators around Latin America. Right now CONQUITO is our main incubator and CEEAS is the training company behind that part, however on this new transnational stage we are analyzing 2 different Mexican incubators which would help us reach the Mexican market which is the biggest.
