About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

More than 3 million people in Greece, live under the poverty line and they can not have guaranteed access to proper meals. On the other hand the Greek producers, create exceptional Greek products that are well known for their quality, but can not be promoted abroad. What if we could globally increase consumers’ awareness, so that they will embrace these products, follow and integrate the healthy Mediterranean diet and support our mission?

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Wise Greece is a non-profit Organization, with a double mission, that works as a social enterprise! We promote top quality Greek products, through the sales of which we manage to raise money and buy food, in order to donate it to people in need on a monthly basis. We never donate money! We cover the basic nutritional needs of unprivileged people! Greek producers donate a percentage of their sales to Wise Greece, in order to cover the basic food needs of Charitable Institutions and Non-Profit Organizations which support homeless, children and the elderly. Greece becomes a “big warm hug”. A part of a global “Wise Move”, to cover the most essential commodity for those in need… food!

Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Wise Greece basic expenses are covered by the sales of the products, while the remaining profit turns into food, in order to be donated to people in great need.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Wise Greece is different form other approaches because it creates surplus value to the Greek producers, by helping them grow their business and retain jobs, while at the same time covers the basic food needs of unprivileged people. Wise Greece is a social enterprise with a double mission, that aims to help the Greek economy to rise, while offers proper meals to children that live under the poverty line and the homeless in need.
Team

Founding Story

Any individual can donate food every now and then, but that doesn't provide a permanent solution to the problem of food shortage. On the other hand Greece produces excellent food products! What if we could combine those 2 facts? What if we could promote the Greek products and guarantee that through their sales we would be able to provide food to people that live under the poverty line? What if we could create a sustainable and "wise" model, that could fight unemployment, support the Greek economy and make a significant social contribution by helping those who are in need, through an organized effort? This is how Wise Greece was born...

Team

Wise Greece consists of 3 full-time people. Also, we have a list of 50 members/volunteers that support us in events, food donations and everyday issues such as communication with Institutions etc.
