About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Many years ago I discovered my passion to help others through creating system of education (social education) which support health not to treat diseases later. It was (and still is) my voluntarily work. I started in 1997 teaching my author's programs in founded by me Association Education for the Future, I discovered also the range of problems to be solved and groups which could be supported by them. Health is very crucial problem for any group. I was devoted firstly to teachers and parents, also children. Now, when I am also elder, I am inclined to the persons in my age. I see from my experience many challenges for health education dedicated to older persons.The elderly are devoted and fixed in different aspects of disease/disability. They are self-centered on this problem, usually feel alone and not supported, not heard; sometimes separated from their family and loving surroundings. They are attached to one doctor/drugs, one direction, hopeless and frequently fearfull of their future. This initiative meets the needs of older people to be more visible and appreciated by others, to go beyond its own circle of problems. They will discover their passion and be able to implement it into his life. To achieve this, it needs to appreciate them as important persons for themselves and others, for community and society. This quality comes from themselves and it must be discovered and noticed. They need a safe environment in order to discover and dare to talk about their needs and how to satisfy them. The educational part of the project is the need to realize older dare to articulate and express themselves. The project overcomes these needs by meeting the friendly environment and the technologies and methods that will support overall health in older persons.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

This project is showing seniors a wider perspective of life and health approach, supporting them in their strenghts, not weakness, searching healthy aspects in themselves, not disease and different means inside and outside of them to reach better state of living in any condition of their lives. This project is a part of lifelong education and health promotion titled Uni-versity of Sciences of the Self and Life (Uni-ty in di-versity), which combines together both the needs of different environments (on a global scale, because it is a global initiative), as well as a variety of approaches, whose main core is HEALTH defined as physical, mental, spiritual and social. It assumes integrative approach to human health at different ages, thus creates a network of people, institutions, methodologies and technologies that promote health. This particular rule is one part of an interdisciplinary approach and creating an open platform for cooperation to build a network in different spaces of solutions, as well as for the persons of various ages. It is described on page creatorsofchange.eu. This project aims to show on the one hand how important the elderly are with their experience, bringing their value for future generations (through the educational aspect), on the other hand this group of persons will be supported by all available means, by integrating people (stakeholders, health care professionals and holistic health practitionnaires), resources and technologies to support health, to improving the quality of life of the individual, social, and global. This project is especially innovative concerning holistic approach to health and solutions, as well in education (self-education, never introduced in senior's education) as in solutions (different aspects of supporting health through different approach to health promotions and using alternative technologies)
Impact: How does it Work

This educational program (being a core of this project) is universal and suits in every age of the person. It is a part of my previous expression of my vision of education through organized by me first National Scientific Conference in Warsaw in 2001 Where Are You Going Human Being? Model of education for the future. It is described also in my vision of education as an lifelong learning - OPEN EDUCATION 2030 just released on EU blog (in 3 parts: as a lifelong education, school education and higher education). I led the same kind of programs of self-education and health education in different surroundings as well for the country club for women in rural areas as for children, parents and teachers through Association “Education for the Future” (1997-2004) There were described in my book, published in 2005 – PSYCHOSYNTHESIS IN EDUCATION. Raising Self-consciousness (published in Polish). I provided some elements of these programs, leading academic workshops for students at High School of Social Science in Radom (2010/2011), receiving positive feedback from almost 100 students. This positive evaluation was placed in my book HEALTH EDUCATION IN PRACTICE, published in Polish in 2011.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

My solution is deeply rooted in self-understanding and self-motivation. It is based on individual needs of self-worth, acceptance, influence others, make great impact on another life, also on purpose of individual life. All of these creates deep self-motivation to express oneself in the World. This self-expression brings joy, happiness, self-fulfillment, enthusiasm. These feelings influence immunological system, bring positive emotions and create strenght to overcome obstacles, own limits, so the same stimulates health (physical, emotional, spiritual). Competitive solutions are not posed on individual deep need, only wishes and attractors (pleasure). The best solution in my project express these words: „measure the strength on the intentions”. Frequently the forces of seniors are weaker than wishes, but when they know themselves better, they can overcome the obstacles, finding strenght in their passion (deeply rooted inside). Finding inner motivation and leaded by body wisdom, the elders can make more healthy choices for supporting their health, using as well inner and outer sources.

I am longlife researcher in medicine, also psychology (psychosynthesis) to understand more human activity (behaviors) and deep roots of health/diseases. Over years I discovered how our patterns of behavior and self-image influences health in all its deep dimensions (as well physical, emotional, spiritual) and perspectives (social life). I found how social health education can strenghten health, founding deep motivation in everybody (as well in children as seniors) of their self-worth and gifts which they can share with others and inspire them to live healthier. I started to teach it.

Please describe if and how your stakeholders (cooperation partners, funders, users, etc.) have been participating in defining the problem and developing the solution.

My previous Project HEALTH EDUCATION IN PRACTICE, mentionned above, was described by its user, expressing what they got during workshops leaded by me, and which problems they had before, and which solutions they saw. In this case and project I decided to implement this Project into new group of people, involving cooperation partners and founders to watch wider possibilities of its applications (involving institutions, technologies, global cooperation partners). This part of the project is in the stage of creating international contacts and co-operations.

Has your solution been tested in trials, experimentations, or pilot projects? If yes, please describe the process and outcome.

As it was described above, the similar kind of programs were tested on different groups of participants. The process of evaluation was divided into 2 parts and was deepen in the end of the Project. Every participant got a questionnaire at the beginning and at the end of each workshop. Usually there were workshops (Project) consisted of 5-30-120 hours. The questions were open and frequently descriptive, concerning feelings, motivation, self-image, self-consciousness, also shift in it, which appeared during an episode. Entering questions for each session usually described expectations and moods before the event. At the end of the session – the participant answered the questions in descriptive manner, expressing
changes in understanding of oneself and its meaning for individual person.
This particular project is innovative (concerning second part of it, involving network and international cooperations) and in the state of planning activity and searching partners. As usually it will be tested (being scientist it is my usual activity). Three years ago I started a pilot project for the elderly, titled HEALTH OR DISEASE. THE CHOICE IS YOURS, leaded in resort centers for 350 persons

What barriers might hinder the success of your initiative? How do you plan to overcome them?

There are some psychological barriers in people, especially older one. They are more stagnant, with fixed solutions and attitudes which are not so easy to change. They are attached to them, as well to doctors, drugs, outer authorities, who have solutions for them. Frequently they do not believe in themselves; some of them did not care for themselves over years, sacrifying for others (partners, children, family).
The best solution to it is awaken in them self-motivation to do something for themselves, to be more healthy, even small step every day, to improve their style of life, creating it easier, much more comfortable, supported. They will get more choices, see wider perspective, using more
tools and non-invasive methods to improve their health and feel more satisfaction from their life. It will also motivate them to invest in themselves (like they invested in their children, depreciating themselves). It needs to establish strengh in them to do it for themselves, to be much more worthy for themselves.

What are the specific professional backgrounds and competencies your team brings to the initiative?

From my background I am scientist in medicine (almost 25 years) and academic teacher, later I became psychosynthesis trainer and Life/Master Life Coach. Being a passionate researcher I invest in myself for years. I have been health promotor since 1997, lecturer, writer in many fields of health promotion (medicine, pedagogy, social sciences), introducing synthetic (systemic), interdiciplinary background.
My international contacts are very wide, especially with innovators, social entrepreneurs, also innovative scientists, who brings practical solutions as well for individuals as for environment

Please describe your management or coordination structure in the initiative.

Starting from my synthetic approach and idea holding, I am good in scheduling directions of the project and its main components, so I can coordinate it, especiially at the beginning. I am open also to co-managing the parts of the system which needs different knowledge and skills. Being the co-created project with many components and experts needs some flexibility in sharing skills, openess for new approaches and idea. Refering to the Uni-versity project expressing my full vision, I am absolutely open to establish special partly coordinator for the elderly.

Which target group(s) do you want to reach with your solution?

My target group is consists of 60 women above 60 years of age. They are retired, have higher education, also living outside of the country of their origin, searching for deeper meaning and purpose to make some impact into life of others. It will be a "seed group" to implement whole program to them and replicate it into next groups and surroundings.

What is the impact on your target group (users, clients) you want to generate?

I would like to awaken self-motivation in the elderly, open them to discover new talents and gifes to express them in the world. I want to make impact into change their style of life (attitudes, behavior), making health choices, discovering individual life purpose. I want to motivate them to practice in their life new approaches and tools (technologies) and influencing others, being a role model of new style of life, strenghten vitality and creative forces in the elderly.

What is the wider impact on society you want to generate?

My wider impact on society is to multiplicate this individual and group impact into surroundings (family, community), expand it into different areas (countries), promote it everywhere, making it a global movement, named CREATING HEALTH TOGETHER. I want to show that we are whole big human family, consists of many persons at different ages and each person is very valuable, bringing individual impact to the world, his talents, gift and life and world coul be better place for living if we appreciate every person of any age
